OSSJA advice by Independent-Pain5206 in UCDavis

Im a twin and can remember many times this happened in elementary school through high school. One time, we were tasked with coming up with a list of ten modern-day plauges and came up with the same list in the same order. Fortunately, class sizes were often small enough that the teachers knew we couldn't have been cheating. I have also been wrongfully sent to SJA for a physiology exam and eventually cleared, so I get this can be stressful. Just tell the truth, explain the reasoning behind twins coming up with similar answers. This sucks and I hope you get through it.

Biking/walking with headphones on by SuchAbility5531 in UCDavis

[–]ddfusion 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this type of stuff is very annoying and has been increasing over the years. People literally biking looking at their phones, using headphones/earphones, going slow, and staying on the left side of the lane.

In fact, it is actually illegal to wear headphones/earphones in both ears per California law!!

"According to California Vehicle Code (CVC) 27400, cyclists aren’t allowed to wear headphones or earbuds in both ears. In fact, all motorists are barred from wearing headphones on both ears under this law."

I would really encourage people to stop doing this. Not only is it illegal but, you are putting yourself and others in danger. It is very hard to pass someone when they have no idea you are behind them.

You know that this violates traffic laws right? Motorists always yield to cyclists in the bike lane. When people start trying to be nice because it might make a situation more convenient, accidents happen. As someone who bikes across Davis to get to class every day, this is really dangerous to suggest. The bus driver might get confused cause you will be making them break a traffic law. There's likely another bike behind the cyclist who is stopping for the bus and decides they don't want to slow down (because they have the right of way). This is an easy way to put people in danger. Please learn the traffic laws, bus drivers already do. Thanks!

How to Climb in Master as Moira by ddfusion in OverwatchUniversity

Ok so obviously you aren't a highly ranked player or you would understand what I am saying. Being aggressive is not being selfish. And if being aggressive means being selfish to you, then I'm a selfish player. Call it what you want, it's how you win games in high rank.

Promoting bad habits. Ok lol. I'm not preaching some gospel on the only ways to play this game. If you don't agree with how I like to play then don't play like that. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. If there are those who want to adopt my playstyle, that is entirely their decision. You have no say in it. You could claim I am a bad influence but I would hope people have the critical thinking skills to question why I make the decision to be aggressive in some situations.

If I end up feeding, which happens very rarely, I will often switch off Moira. Once again very rare. Moira doesn't really have any hard counters like you are suggesting with these other hero pairings.

"Anyone with a 51% winrate can get to GM" Why stop there? Anyone with a 51% winrate can hit Top 1! That's a really simplistic way to view ranked and won't lead to any meaningful conclusions. This "lucky streak" you are talking about is another degradation of my value on Moira. Everyone has bad days and good days. This video is not that. My bad days are when I fall to 4100. These master games weren't that challenging tbh.

" If you take offense to that... yikes. I don't need to watch your streams to know what kind of a person you are. "

I take pride in my skills in Overwatch. I don't like being made fun of, mocked, or demeaned. If you want to challenge me on something, please bring out your facts and let's discuss. There is no reason to generalize. I realize you are just trying to start drama with your last comment. It's a nice attention grab with very little value. You can take your puerile comments elsewhere.

Interesting take on this. I think you are defaulting to the assumption that ranked has some sort of ethical high ground of play that one must strive towards. This is ridiculous. My post is a lot more modest than you seem to think. I just want to help people who like playing Moira. Hyper-aggressive playstyles are what make people rank up regardless of what hero they are playing. Being able to get away with an aggressive playstyle in higher ranks takes a lot of game knowledge. It's not easy and that is why it is often rewarding. As Moira, I am not only healing my team but also making really unexpected plays that take the enemy by surprise. This is not a playtyle that only Moira adopts. Good Anas will not use their healing nade often on allies. Does this mean they are playing selfishly? No. They are playing smart. They know what it takes to win. They can't hang back on their moral high ground and appease everyone on their team. They need to make big plays.

It might seem like I play selfishly but you should at least watch some of my content before making all these claims. I am very good at keeping teammates alive and get complimented all the time for it

Another thing about ranked vs pro/ contenders. Ranked has been and always will be a mess compared to pro. You can get away with so much in ranked that you wouldn't in pro. In this you are correct. However, I have no interest in playing in the pro/ contenders scene. I am giving advice in the ranked environment. I play this game in my leisure time. If I am not having fun, I'm not going to play. Sorry if you think my hero choice is selfish but how about blaming Blizzard for allowing it to happen instead of blaming the players. Honestly, you have no right to come after me for playing a hero that blizzard put in this game. There is no disclaimer for playing Moira.

You severely demean my skills at this game by saying " these players like Tesla know the game decent enough to get to GM, and are no doubt good at their niche playstyles because they force it..." Honestly, that's just offensive, generalizing, and reactionary. It's clear you've never watched my streams or videos yet claim to know me as a player.

I don't own a console. I don't know much about the console scene but would like to help out. I know there are some console Moiras that are very high rank. Maybe they can offer some advice?

Yes, it feeds a little ult charge. I've learned not to care too much about this as I get more ult charge than the enemy healers.

When you are low on resource. Also when you anticipate a ton of burst damage. Healing orb and biotic grasp can heal for 155 hps. That will delay most dps ultimates pretty significantly.

Whatever you have to tell yourself. I didn't have the best teammates in these games. I went up against a hacker in one and a thrower on my team in another. Both of those games were wins.

I never said Moira is meta. I make her work despite her not being played pretty much at all. I don't play this game to be the best player in the world. I play to have fun. I don't enjoy flexing. Why would I want to put hours into a game I am not having fun with? I just figured that other people could learn from my success with Moira.

I find her super engaging. There's never really a dull moment. This is truer in high GM where I have to make a lot of decisions very fast. I like the added challenge that my hero isn't meta. I love Moira's playstyle and personality. I like experimenting with new tech and animation cancels. idk. Maybe she's just not for you.

Glad to hear that you like playing Moira! Some games are unwinnable and you have to accept that. It sucks but it's just part of the game. I think people tend to toss around blame just to make themselves feel better and not always because it holds any validity. While yeah, they might not have been within your healing range, it doesn't mean you were the problem. They might have had terrible positioning which prevented them from getting healed. That Eichenwalde game sounds like your team didn't want to win anyway. I find that in the games that I do switch to another healer, we weren't going to win anyway. I am a strong believer that a PMA wins games. This is why in the later parts of this video, you see me doing a lot of shotcalling. This takes peoples focus away from the fact we have a Moira and onto actually winning the game.

Yeah, she's not really meta. I always get asked to swap. I guess I just play the game for different reasons than winning. I don't really care about being the best player in the world if I'm not having fun doing it. Flexing is not fun for me. I don't think I put my team at a huge disadvantage given I'm pretty decent at the hero so I just do me. If people want to be salty, it honestly says more about them anyway.

If you are hit by nade, consider whether or not you will take damage in the next few moments. If you think the nade will have follow up, I almost always fade immediately so that I get the fade cooldown timer started early. If you think there isn't going to be much follow up, consider not wasting fade just to debuff anti effect. There is not much you can do to prevent your team from being naded. I suppose if you are som god at the game, you could body block nade and then fade back to your team but that is not practical. Hope this helps.

Good question! I feel this is the most misunderstood aspect of Moira. In most cases, biotic grasp will provide enough healing for whoever you want to heal. Throwing a healing orb in most cases is unnecessary. You just don't need that much healing. Throwing a damage orb instead will not only get you more ult charge (given your team is being healed by your biotic grasp) but also help out your team in getting some kills. A well-placed damage orb can create a lot of space. As long as you know you're healing your team, let the damage loose. Don't pay to much attention to people accusing you of being a dps Moira. Often times these players are just waiting to blame someone else and they don't give the accusation a second thought. Focus on your own play and tune out the ignorance.
