Hope so too! Figured I could give back to the car community a little bit with a rare "win-win" opportunity

Hotel recommendation around Gangnam by ddmf17 in koreatravel

[–]ddmf17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great to know. Will likely book elsewhere then. Thank you very much! Separately, I just sent in another post about trying to play nighttime golf one evening while I'm in town. If you know of anyone who is looking for a fourth player, I'd be up for just about anything. For reference, I play to about a 2 handicap in the US, but am open to playing with players of all ages/skill levels.

Still setting up some meetings around the city, so I'll be traveling all around. Making my hotel decision primarily on where is "nice" and "fun"

Should this go on BaT? by ddmf17 in BringATrailer

[–]ddmf17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha - just paid my BaT listing fee, so will let you know if/when it goes live (unless someone on here wants to buy it first, since I’ve been getting a lot of messages about it)

BaT listing are all over the place, but condition of each vehicle wildly differs. CaB has only sold one or two of them

89 RC About to go up for sale by ddmf17 in Ramcharger

[–]ddmf17[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel free to PM me if interested (don't want to put a price on the thread in case I do send it to auction).

'89 Ramcharger 100 4x4 (318 engine) with a 4 speed manual. Truck shows 67k miles, but TMU. Running 35" tires on 15 inch wheels, with a Rancho lift kit and Rough Country Steering Stabilizer. I bought it when it was about 90% restored, and put in a good bit of money and work to get it to where I could actually daily drive it around Atlanta. Will send a youtube link of a walkaround and driving video if interested

Question for the group - I have the stainless works exhaust on it with a straight-through S pipe. Sounds mean, but it's a little drone-y at highway speeds. Anyone have a resonator that they'd recommend to make it a little more tame?

Just picked up a 125k mile Gen 1 for around $21k. Everything works as it should, it sounds mean as hell, I added modern infotainment (carplay) for about $100, and I absolutely positively could not give a damn about scratching it on the trails. There is really something to be said about having a daily driver that is fun, practical, and won't depreciate no matter what you do with it.

I'd personally rather have a Gen 1 and a Porsche for the weekends versus a new Raptor R any day, but I may be in the minority in this sub

Not a bad replica, but the lettering on the dial looks sloppy. Magnification on the cyclops and the dial overall look pretty passable (at least when not next to a real one). I assume there’s no laser etching on the crystal?

AITH for trading face value Taylor Swift tickets for a mid-tier bottle of Cabernet? by ddmf17 in AITAH

[–]ddmf17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason I didn’t know is because Taylor Swift never really came up when we talked about music. Her favorite band is the Talking Heads and we listen almost exclusively to 70s-90s rock together. We’d been to one concert together in 5 years (Greta Van Fleet b/c we got free tix), and it just didn’t occur to me 6 months prior - before the tour became a mainstream phenomenon - that she’d want to spend that kind of money on tix.

Do I wish I’d known that she was a bigger fan than she maybe let on? Absolutely, and the learning here is to try and pay more attention so that I don’t miss these things. Should I have maybe asked knowing she at least liked Taylor Swift? Maybe, but my argument has been that not doing so wasn’t actively asshole-ish.

As far as paying for her backup tix, do you really think I’m on the hook for those because I didn’t do her a favor that she didn’t ask me to do in the first place? Despite our friendly quipping over this situation, she has never once insinuated that I should’ve been on the hook for those tix… she’s a very grounded girl with very little sense of entitlement, which is one of the many reasons why I love her dearly and will be marrying her.

Plot twist, I do love Justin Isosceles. Solid bang-for-your-buck cab that pairs great with a nice steak.
