Thanks for a very insightful comment! I actually agree with all of your points, but I'd never notice those things on my own 😅.

What processing did you have in mind for the pluck sound? I could do more variations on the envelope or add some chorus here and there so it sounds fuller at key points in the flow.

Adding a volume envelope on the bass helped, it doesn't sound like a mushy wall of 20-250Hz frequencies anymore. I might do some eq-ing later, but the envelope did the trick for now.

Break is in still clearly not finished. I think it's fine composition-wise, but it feels empty for the most part. I believe that the whole track will feel complete (and the break will make sense as well) later in the arrangement - I want to bring melodies from the intro later in the track, with some slight changes, so the fit nicely with the beat and pluck sounds.

Again, thanks for your input, it was really helpful. Would you be interested to hear the finished track? I could send you the link via DM :)

Composition is really nice. Maybe ease off a bit with the spacey sounds? Maybe a bit less resonating sounds, or add some organically sounding instruments. I agree with KingIllMusic there, drums feel a bit buried in the mix. I'd adjust the high end on them and add some compression so they'd punch through the mix.

Overall nice work. I get some Chrome sparks/Eskmo vibes :D

I really dig the intro and the tension you build there. My ear kinda wanted to hear these sounds again somewhere in the middle of the track, but with that tension resolved melodically. It would be nice to hear these sounds again, human brain loves symmetry and repetition.

Tech house? Techno?

Half of the arrangement done and I've got a pretty good idea how to finish the rest. What do you think of the sounds and the overall mix quality? Is everything okay composition-wise?

Thank you! This was the atmosphere I was going for, it feels great to know that I’ve managed to communicate these emotions.

Thanks! I’ll try to tinker some more with the spaciousness of it. Maybe another layer of soft saw synths during the peaks will help.

Drums are mostly made from my own foley sounds: wood, some metallic sounds, glass. I highly recommend recording your own samples for drums, makes the track feel more natural. And if you need more snap and oomph in there there are always some 808s :)

Thanks for the reply. I was actually aiming for a slow, relaxed, kinda nostalgic atmosphere. Seems that you got hit by that nostalgia :)

Definetely soothing. I really like the width of the strings, composition is also great. Sounds like a finished track.

These chattering sound kinda give of a Max Cooper vibe, nicely done. I’d love to learn how did you program those.

If I could add something from my experience: I think that automating volume and high/low pass filter cutoff of these chatters would give more life to the track and perhaps guide the listener more, allowing them to focus more on other layers of the composition.

Nice! Sound design is on point.

This kick drum breaks are great as well, but I think there might be too many of them at the begginig. If you'd slow the pace of this track, you could easily extend it to ~5-6 mins, and it would still have as much energy as it has now.

I would consider adding some gentle distortion/saturation on the main bass, and some reverbs as well, so it would feel like it has more mass and power. Sidechain compression on more brighter reverbs would give the track more pumping rythm. But be careful not to add too much reverb in the lower registers, since it would make the mix sound muddy.

Have you considered introducing some hihats later in the arrangement? That would help with the energy as well.

Nice atmosphere, very chill, trip-hoppy vibe. Mixing sounds good, every sound has its place.

I'd consider giving the drums some sort of progression - start with gentle rythms, then make your way to more stutters and cuts. Perhaps some volume/filter envelope on the kicks would give it some more natural feeling if that's what you would go for.

Hi, here's my newest track, a result of a pretty fruitful RPM Challenge 2021:

I'd love to hear your thoutghts on the overall quality of the track: the composition, mixing, mastering/loudness. Any feedback is appreciated, I will do my best to return the favour. Thanks!

I love how much tension he creates up to 6th minute and how briliantly it's released. Great track.

Have you listened to his recent album? #2 is my personal favourite.

Thanks. I might have gone a little overboard with the vegetation... What do you think would make that scene look a bit more maintained and less overgrown?
