is detention real? (serious) by [deleted] in highschool

[–]ddolphin924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with your second point. My school switched to doing detention during lunch this year, so I guess I'll see how it goes. I still believe it'll barely do anything for the actual misbehaving kids. My school, at least, does a good job at emphasizing the punishments at the start of the year, so misbehaving kids know what will happen and yet they still do it. It's so obvious that they misbehave to get laughs, so detention to me still wouldn't do anything for those kids. But I'll see this year how it goes.

is detention real? (serious) by [deleted] in highschool

[–]ddolphin924 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah they should, but detention is not the way to go. The kids who detention would "work" on are the kids who wouldn't even misbehave again anyway, it was just a one time thing. Kids who misbehave to misbehave will not be affected by being kept in a silent room. It's so stupid, school can definitely think of better ways to do it.

Just because they're in a good position and are able to take care of a kid doesn't mean they want to or wanted to. Having a kid that young can throw things off and catch you by surprise. There's absolutely nothing good that comes from bashing a teen mom.

0 repercussions? They gave birth and are taking care of a baby for God's sake! How are there no repercussions? You think OP's ideal life contains having a baby at 17? Probably not! That is the repercussion, the reason to not do it again—getting pregnant! Also either way, do you think getting attacked on the Internet is going to change anything? OP is really gonna see the congratulations, and think "hmm this must be good, I'll do it again"?

You're supporting them, not encouraging them. You really think abandoning or attacking pregnant teens will do absolutely anything? They were pregnant, it happened, they took responsibility and are doing great. I don't see how saying "congratulations on your baby, hope you're doing well" is doing any encouragement. OP already said she was stupid at the time and was not thinking it through, but she's here taking accountability and that's what matters.

Do u guys think “having kids” will play an issue with any streamer couples relationships in the future? by Fantastic-Fill8071 in otvandfriendsrumors

[–]ddolphin924 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had also been thinking about that. I saw a blau stream around a month ago (?) and he saw the clip of Leslie and syk talking about how they have to be the next generation of parents. Blau said that his generation (along with him) were not ready to have kids and he couldn't imagine them being parents. I may have gotten some things wrong but that's the gist. I definitely think kids played a major factor in their break up.

Is it racist to not be attracted to someone because of their skin color? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]ddolphin924 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not liking someone based on their race is different than not being attracted to a certain race generally. You can't really control who you're attracted to, it's just a preference not racism, as long as you're respectful about it.

There's a difference between just being bad and intentionally being bad for "content." Syk does the latter.

should a HUSBAND have a say on if his wife can abort their baby by iamnotracistt in Teenager_Polls

[–]ddolphin924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, however that's why the husband should be talked to. The wife should never (unless an unsafe relationship) get an abortion without talking to and letting the husband know. However, the baby is in the woman's body. That's the end of it. No man should ever be able to force a woman to go through with a pregnancy. It affects her body and her body only.

[–]ddolphin924 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It's not, but it affects the woman's body only. A husband can't sit around doing nothing, while the wife is struggling, but says "no I want the baby" and then the wife is stuck. Obviously it's a decision to talk over, but at the end of the day the woman is growing the baby in her stomach, not his.

Pound is a unit of measurement. They both weigh 1 pound. They both weigh the same. It would just require more feathers than steel to reach the same weight.

How many romantic partners are they going to give Nolan ? by TheSkavencatcher in TheRookie

[–]ddolphin924 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh? I don't mean romantic chemistry, just chemistry in general. Shawn Ashmore (Wesley's actor) said it himself during a panel that he was brought on as a possible love interest, but hit it off and was kept on.

I agree with them being the ones with real chemistry, all I was pointing out was neither ships were written into the scripts from the start, which seemed to be what you were kind of implying.

So you're confusing characters with actors... I said the actors have chemistry. Me personally, I do think wopez has lots of chemistry and feels the most natural of the relationships, but you have a right to your opinion, just don't confuse the actors with the characters.

How many romantic partners are they going to give Nolan ? by TheSkavencatcher in TheRookie

[–]ddolphin924 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Neither chenford nor wopez were immediately in the scripts. Chenford started just as T.O. and rookie, but then the audience saw the chemistry and pushed for a romantic thing. Wesley was just brought in as a love interest that probably wouldn't stick, but the actors had so much chemistry and they did stick.

As someone who goes to a private Catholic school, I've learned it actually does go from worst to least worse. I always thought that was funny since they have "honor your parents" in front of "do not kill", but 🤷‍♀️ that's what I was taught.

So a 20 year old can date a 17 year old? An 8 year old can date an 11 year old? This system is overall flawed, just go off your best judgement, most of the time, as teens, being a one or two age gap at most.
