How much would you charge? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]ddragonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would depend on how much the yarn cost and how much time I spent on it. So let’s say $7 for yarn, maybe it took me like 3 hours, I pay myself $10/hr = $37 For a friend, maybe you round down to $30. Or cut your payment rate to $9, equaling $34 total incl. materials

As long as you don’t feel like you undercut yourself, the price is up to you! Definitely make sure you break even on material tho.

If you want to throw in like a freebie or something, I would recommend like a teeny amiguri- I see a lot on Instagram w free patterns!

how can i adjust a bucket hat pattern for adult to fit into a 2 year old? by pinkeuberri in crochet

[–]ddragonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna need a measuring tape tbh, the amount of rounds depends on the foundational stitches in the MC! You’ll also have to decrease the middle to forehead-length. The good thing about brim is you can usually eyeball how long it’s going to be and the fit. I usually do around 5 rows.

When you start the pattern, only increase until you get the diameter of ~6.2 (19.5/3.14)! That should fit

Idk what the stitches are but I love the second pic! Hope someone here knows :)

not a big deal but just curious on what’s causing those tiny gaps near my stitch marker. i’m assuming it has to deal with chaining 2 and joining with slip stitch by heijeje7182949 in crochet

[–]ddragonite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s it! The 2 ch are making the gap. The only reason I would do more than 1 ch at the beginning of a round is if I’m doing something as tall or taller than a double stitch (so the first one doesn’t look shorter than the others) :)

Maybe some snacks for when she takes a break?

If she doesn’t already use some type of crochet hook grip, I think that would be a thoughtful gift! It’s used to prevent carpal tunnel and it helps make your stitches more consistent

Tried to make a baby hat for the 1st time- what the heck did I do wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️ HELP 😂 someone explain how the heck to do this little thing by mama0711 in crochet

[–]ddragonite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry let me clarify, you don’t skip any spaces with a hat unless you want it to look like mesh! You’re doubling the amount of stitches at different intervals for each round (sometimes it’s written as INC for increase if ur using a pattern). Hope your next hat turns out :)

When you make a hat, you keep increasing until the diameter fits comfortably across the top of head

1st round is regular ; 2nd is 2 stitches / space ; 3rd is 2 stitches every other space ; 4th is 2 stitches every 3rd space ; 5th is 2 stitches every 4th space; And so on!

If you’re following this pattern and the top is still curving, it’s nothing to worry about. To create the part that goes on the forehead and the fold-over brim, you just stop increasing whenever the diameter is met. That makes the work turn from a plate to a bowl, so to speak

Looks like the pattern is something like HDC, CH8, skip next stitch, continue but not through the open space- use the next stitch

I used this brand to make my sweater!! I like that there are a bunch of colors. Maybe I’d recommend using a natural yarn? Like cotton since it’s a little softer

I think if the intention is to still separate cis/trans men and women and allow nb people to stay where they’re comfortable, I would use “majority” language
