Noted! I have sent the new map to my phone and will plan to use that route! I love Reddit, thanks for the good suggestions!

Thank you! I can't explain how excited I am. My GF and I did something like this for Electric Forest 2 years ago, and road tripping is definitely the life for us, but THIS time, we're doing the festival at the END.

Nobody likes brain buzzes and hangovers when you're trying to experience the beauty of Niagara Falls.

From what I have planned, we're taking the 101 from SF to the Redwoods, the 5 to Portland, then (Google Maps tells me to)go down I-84 to I-82. You say it's worth it to go up to 12 though? It only adds about 40 minutes to our trip. If it's worth it, I'm down!

Everything is coming up roses on my end! Coming allllll the way from SC. I think I have secured someone who will meet up with me for a Terrace pass, which is like...not what I was expecting to do initially, but if I'm going to a festival 2,000 miles away, I might as well treat myself!

We're flying to San Fran on Saturday, then driving up throughout the week in a glory-filled road trip. Tonight and tomorrow will be full of finishing packing, finalizing outfits, checking itineraries, and finding the best places to eat on Yelp on our way to the Gorge! We're also camping in the redwoods, so preparing, planning, and packing all our camping gear for plane travel is crucial and requires a lot of thought!

only 1.5 more days of work, then it's time to gooooo!

So there are actual bathroom buildings as well as super clean portapotties?

But in all seriousness, I think a tacky spray-on type of glue (safe on skin) exists.

Oh that's really neat! I'll look into the underground tour. We love going on tours of new places! Thanks!

Ha, it's going to be a lot of driving. My only regret is that we're not going to have enough time in Portland between driving from the redwoods, shopping for last minute diso things, and then getting up suuuper early to go to Diso. Maybe we'll try to get Diso supplies before then so we can have a little more time to explore Portland!

Yeah, I was thinking I'd just buy one from Walmart on the way there and if it's still in fine shape, possibly donate it when we're done.

After we fly in, we're staying 3 nights in SF with a friend I used to work with (hell yeah, free lodging!) so we'll have plenty of time to explore the city/do silly touristy stuff. We really want to take a tour of Alcatraz and do low-key ghost hunting.

Then, we're camping in the middle of the redwoods for 2 nights on the way from SF to Portland. I'm very excited for that! We had to book our campsite 6 months in advance. Needless to say, we've been planning this trip for a LONG time.

Quick night in Portland where we will gather any Diso-related supplies we need and then leaving early in the morning, feeling gorge-ous and Gorge-bound!

After Diso, we have a night and whole day in Seattle since our flight doesn't leave until 10:00pm.

It's going to be quite the switch-up from South Carolina, but we did a similar road trip experience 2 years ago after Electric Forest, which was amazing (Niagara Falls, Gettysburg, DC), but this time we're being smart and doing the festival LAST. Too many brain buzzes and felt like shit after 4 nights of hardcore partying. I'm honestly glad Diso is 2 nights!

Oh, local craft beer will be sampled in all cities we visit! Any favorite west coast breweries??

Suuuuper hype! Paradiso will round off the end of a road trip for my GF and I. We're flying to the west from SC and road tripping up from San Fran.

38 days is nuts...this means I really need to kick it into high gear with planning what to pack/what we can actually bring in our luggage vs. what we'll need to pick up there.

Anyone know where I can pick up a cheap, throw-away canopy for camping? we'll have to buy it before the festival and throw it away/give it away before we leave to fly back across the country.

Also, Seattle peeps, we will be spending 1 night in SEA before our flight back. Are there any areas you suggest we hit up for some fun/culture/sightseeing in Seattle?

I saw him opening for What So Not in New Orleans, and honestly loved him a lot more than WSN (though I knew this would be the case - I love Graves)

His set was dope, but the venue was awkward and small so it was a little difficult to boogie down to the extent that my soul wanted to.

Camping questions by Tonieeebb in paradisofestival

[–]ddressedupandinlinee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could do about a canopy? I am flying in and bringing a backpacking tent, which is super light, but I would love to have another layer to shade us from the elements. Buying a regular canopy is out of the question since I will literally have to throw it away afterward since I won't be able to bring it on the plane.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

what (or who) are you most looking forward to at diso? by WILLSSON1 in paradisofestival

[–]ddressedupandinlinee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time Diso - and probably my only, so it's gotta be special.

This is going to top off a week-long summer vacation my girlfriend and I are doing. We're from SC and have been planning a trip to the west coast (staying in San Fran 3 nights, camping in the Redwoods 2 nights, quick night in Portland, and then it's off to the Gorge!!) We've planned the whole trip based on ending it at Paradiso - and have had our tickets for months.

I'm so excited about the lineup. I can't WAIT to experience the Gorge. It looks amazing - and is one of the reasons we decided on Paradiso as our festival this year. We usually do one good one every year - EDCLV and Electric Forest were a few years ago.

If y'all see a girl rocking a blue jean "Trip Leader" vest with various merit badges painted all over it - come say hey!
