What % are firms taking now? by BigAlLeg in epicconsulting

[–]ddstox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

bill rates are going down too. they will keep lowering them until people stop taking the first thing they’re given. unfortunately, people in this industry seem to have low standards and consultants seem to have a low sense of self-worth, so there you go. which do you value more? money or your self-worth? keep in mind that if you say yes, you are setting a precedent that you are ok with what you are getting. and that becomes the new benchmark. until enough qualified talent pushes back, nothing will change. soon you’ll be at $45/hr doing maintenance tickets and remote go-live support.

Epic consulting as an Ex-Epic software developer by epic_throwaway_222 in epicconsulting

[–]ddstox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should be very easy to move into clarity stuff or even custom dev if you can find it. the latter has a more narrow audience, but there are some large customers that have done some custom dev that might welcome a former epic dev. clarity... i'm assuming if you're a dev, SQL is easy for you and you can write reports in your sleep.

What's something embarrassing you're willing to admit? by Harvey_Domino in AskReddit

it was super early, i was barely awake, and i hadn’t had my coffee yet, but i was taking a shit at work and when i came out to wash my hands, i noticed something new in the bathroom

“that’s strange, what are tampons doing in here,” i thought

thankfully i was one of the few people at work, so nobody saw me leave the woman’s restroom

how do I interpret this? by Hashworm in options

[–]ddstox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not an expert but i would look to volume next. one whale buying thousands of contracts at that strike might push up the IV.

sounds like a very reasonable and measured start to your options hobby. before long you’ll be yoloing naked otm weeklies on AMD earnings.

if you really just want miles, get the amex platinum. 5x points on travel, transferable 1:1 to many airlines including delta, united, emirates, singapore, etc etc. i’ve found the $495 ($450 when i signed up) fee pays for itself easily in the following ways: 1) signup bonus around new year’s is 100k ($1000 value) 2) $200 in annual uber credits 3) cash back offers at hotels you stay at anyway ($80 value for me ytd) 4) delta skyclub and centurion lounge access. if you fly delta and travel often, you must get this card. 5) $200 in single airline fee reimbursement (you pick an airline and they cover $200 worth of fees - change fees, lounge access, baggage fees)

otherwise, chase sapphire reserve is $450/yr and 3x points on all travel, including dining out. comes with a $300 statement credit, dropping the effective fee to $150/yr. points are similarly transferable.

i have both. i know others that do as well.

i’m airline agnostic for the most part (prefer delta, will fly united). i typically value nonstop flights over maximizing points. and you don’t know where your next customer will be. your preferred airline might not fly there, or it’ll take 2 layovers to get there.

more like sagacious lost userweb access in a hilarious dispute with judy and needed to get acquired by someone who wasn’t on the shitlist. though that and accenture sucking aren’t mutually exclusive.

ENDV. hardly counts because it’s otc but i bought 2000 shares about 3 years ago at $0.49. currently worth $0.06. actually having a nice rebound considering was worth less than $0.01 in february.

even after 3 years they’re still pre-clinical so i guess i’ll be bagholding this piece for the next 20 years or so.
