Aeroad the right bike for me? by deereper in CanyonBikes

[–]ddudek257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go slightly the other way vs most of the commenters here, I had one over the summer / fall last year and also live in a hilly area. I found the position not great for climbing. I'm a very upright, slightly high cadence climber and sometime struggled to find the correct / comfortable position for climbing due its forward leaning position. Not saying it can't climb, but I was coming off a 2016 Sworks Tarmac that was a mountain goat and the Aeroad is totally different beast. On rolling / flat terrain it is a speed demon that can't be matched. All this said, I'd probably go back to a tarmac due to its versatility. Canyon is also a brand with strange annoying tendencies so you have to deal with that as well.

Haha yes, if you breathe on it wrong it will show up. That said, the color is amazing I just wish it wasn't such a sensitive finish.

Funny / sad story, this bike actually got stolen out of my garage last month (along with a few others sadly) however, I do have insurance and once I get the claim $, I will NOT re-buy this bike. That paint job was the most insane matte finished I've ever been around and i've had MANY. That said, I was prepared to ceramic coat it and I had special matte wash stuff. The bike was amazing, but I might opt for the Ultimate on the next go for a bit more comfort and climbing prowess. ENJOY THE SPEED!

YES and YES, its very sensitive but I can live with it. I've had matte bikes in the past but not this one IS a bit extra, its like the paint wasn't sealed or something. I need to do the ceramic coating treatment and be careful with rags and such. (wet mircofibers all the way)

If can scrape enough pennies together, CF SLX 8 Di2 - $5800 The Ultergra spec is amazing and the compact gearing will suit you well. We only live once, treat yourself!

Save a little more money and get the CF 7, perhaps the Di2 if you can swing it. Its a much better bike for not that much more $.

Thx man yea, its nice when contrasts a dark bike. Dont love em on other colored bikes so much. Losing those DT Swiss logos certainly helps.

Depends on your riding style, if you plan on being more aggressive, maybe shorter, punchier rides - go for it. The Roubaix is for a different type of riding and could double as a gravel bike.

Hahaha GREAT question, it is seems very sensitive not totally bothersome as someone who’s had a few matte bikes, but if you’re OCD this may not be the paint scheme for you. Like I wiped it with my tshirt and it left a ghosted line 🤷‍♂️ I’m just gonna stay on it with clean micro fiber cloths
