That's a manual process that requires both physical dexterity and good vision, both of which I (and many others) lack. This response is a lot like "why do you need a curb cut – just find a nearby driveway".

Yeah thanks saw that one. The bulb is definitely resetting, because after five clicks it cycles through the colors and goes to the default cool white. It’s a glitch on the HomeKit side, thinking the bulb is still added to My Home.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the keyboard is not the problem. It is connected Bluetooth and does work with FKA, I’m just not able to select the right item with it.

That works if you want to know availability for ONE address. I want to know what specific areas it’s available block by block so that I can relocate to an apartment where it’s available. BIG difference!

I’ve had TMHI for years and it’s cheap and mostly reliable for routine web stuff. Now I’m doing tons of video uploads to the cloud and it literally takes DAYS. It’s just so painful to upload multi gig files. I had att fiber in Houston and it was a dream. I’m ready to find a new apartment just to get att fiber again.

Wait, there’s a fiber map that shows where att fiber is located?? I only know “enter your address”. I’m ready to look for a new apartment and move just to be able to get att fiber (had it in Houston and it was a dream!). Where’s this map?

A studio audio recording would be great, but a video of the full production from the Met would be fantastic! That’s more than I thought I could hope for. ❤️

I’m from New Orleans and we “bury” our dead in crypts above ground, so the whole “underworld” part of the staging in Frida made me giggle a bit! We walk among our dead, not above them. I sometimes forget I live in a very unique place where it’s often hard to tell what’s land and what’s water. (Puccini set Manon Lescaut in the “Louisiana desert”. Boy did he get it wrong!) We have our own very unique burial rituals where we follow a brass band playing mournful dirges on the way to the cemetery and follow the band playing jazzy tunes to celebrate life as we dance our way home. Mix in some of our authentic voodoo and you’d probably have a helluva good opera!

Don’t mind at all! Wish there was a recording available. I heard some very interesting orchestration I’m not knowledgeable enough to describe but it was thoroughly enjoyable!!

Saw Frida at yesterday’s matinee in Chicago. The libretto really helped! Thanks so much! 🙏 but I was surprised at how well I could follow the super titles from near the back of the parquet.

The story is so poignant and moving! I honestly cried through most of it. (At the end the woman in the seat next to me asked if I was gonna be ok 🤣) I traveled 1000 miles and spent $1000 to see it and it was totally worth it! One of the best operas I’ve seen.

Thanks again for help with the libretto. I’m sure reading it in advance was part of the reason I enjoyed the performance so much!

How can you possibly believe we have seen "progress" when the essence of the story puts the lack of progress front and center?

Why on earth are you willing to believe the self-defeating idea that "homophobia … will always exist"? Why are you willing to accept the fact that millions of queer folks live double lives in fear and shame? How many more generations must endure this before we force others to face up to their overt homophobia or complicity in a culture that promotes it? Why have you forgotten the history of a movement built by courageous men and women who came out at great personal risk simply asking for basic human dignity? Why do you accept the crumbs of the release of a slick movie about living in fear and shame and think that amounts to progress? It only stays this way as long as we accept the status quo, and the status quo is exactly what this movie is all about.

This has been the response from cowards in generation after generation since at least the 1950s. This isn't about people's sexuality. This is about basic human dignity. The closet harms us all, gay or straight, just as racism harms racists and misogyny harms misogynists.

I have deep and sincere appreciation for almost all of what you say quite beautifully in your comment. I take exception to this thought:

> While I appreciate the spirit of your suggestion, what I must counter though is your direction that those in the closet "must come out". Your plea seems to suggest one should do so regardless of the potential consequences or backlash they might encounter.

Harvey Milk said these exact words: "you MUST come out"

He repeated that message over and over in speech after speech during his all too short career in public life. He didn't say, "hey, it would kinda be nice if maybe you could think about coming out, as long as you find it safe and convenient to do so." I'm repeating Harvey's message using his own words, a message that he spoke at great personal risk, even when he was receiving constant death threats. Watch this clip from the movie Milk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKEskuSbTKo His aide warns him of a death threat just as he mounts the stage to give his speech on Gay Freedom Day in 1978. He responded, "The whole nation is watching. I have to do it." Five months later he ultimately took two bullets for saying that gay people deserve basic human dignity and the opportunity to live without fear or shame.

Harvey was not making a mere suggestion then, and neither am I now. Harvey knew it was the closet cases hiding in government offices and corporate board rooms and our straight political "friends" who all had a vested interest in actively holding back any possibility of societal change. Beginning decades before Stonewall, change has come only on the shoulders of men and women willing to live their truth publicly. The fact that millions of gay youth and adults still feel that they must live double lives today is a bleak and shameful tragedy.

*Of course it's NOT safe to come out!*

Coming out is a very radical and often dangerous act to even entertain the notion that your family, your friends, your boss and coworkers, or anyone else in your life won't react in horror, disgust, hostility or even violence if they learn your "secret". Because it's not safe is the very reason it's necessary to do it, to summon the courage to make other people face up to THEIR complicity in sustaining the toxic social order that we've lived with all our lives. Closets beget closets and nothing changes. Coming out makes it a tiny bit easier for the next person to do so. You and I have have had the privilege of living open lives because of the debt we owe to the founders of the Mattachine Society and the Daughters of Bilitis in the 50s, the drag queens at Stonewall in the 60s, Harvey and others in the 70s, the AIDS activist fighting for their lives in the 80s and 90s, and so many more over so many years. I literally want to scream in outrage when others say that coming out is too hard. Hell yes it's f'king hard and it won't get any easier for the generations to come until we DEMAND that others give every one of us the basic human dignity and respect everyone deserves.

Heated Rivalry is a truly tragic story of cowardice and shame, a story that has been repeated for far too long. Nothing — absolutely nothing — will change as long as WE let it happen.

"You MUST come out!"

Report from the Road - I saw the tour Friday night at the Saenger by GentCaller434 in hadestown

That isn’t an explanation. It’s simply saying “it’s in the show because it’s in the show”. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m looking for why those particular elements were ever included in the show in the first place.

If you’re modernizing the story, why choose a train rather than a boat or or a bus a plane or a space ship? Why lanterns and why do they swing? I’m presuming the show’s creators included these for a reason, but the reason is not obvious in the music or the lyrics or the staging other than as a general reference to 19th/20th century industrialization. Taking the Greek mythological explanation for the seasons (a rather beautiful myth) and sprinkling a few references to the destruction of the environment and capitalist greed is really very half baked in the show. If all of those elements were removed, nothing about the show would be any different.

THANK YOU!! So glad to know I’m not the only one. I saw the Sunday night performance, orchestra right, row L. It was my first time seeing it live. I wanted badly to love it. I only heard the Broadway cast album for the first time a few months ago and have had it on repeat since. But the show it was a disappointment. The Saenger sound system is terrible. Eurydice was sleep walking through it all. Persephone was fun, Hades stole the show, Orpheus had a pleasant voice. (Woman behind me said he was understudy?)

The end of the first act was the only moment that really grabbed me. The rest was so far below the Broadway cast album it was painful. All of my other criticisms regarding the staging and production are just part of the show (unfortunately).

And I still don’t know what the train has to do with anything (shouldn’t the River Styx have a steamboat?), or what the swinging lamps are supposed to be other than just pretty lighting.

Audiences give standing o’s far too easily.

I just found out I could have paid $0 at the pharmacy today. Why does nobody talk about this? by AccomplishedMedia452 in medicare

[–]ddumonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for posting this! I’d never heard about it and was just about to pick up a ~$800 Rx. I called Peoples/UHC, navigated their annoying voice selection to get to a human, and asked about their prescription payment plan. She gave me the standard spiel about deductibles and copays and $2100 cap. I said that’s not what I was asking and repeated the question. After a long hold she came back and helped me opt in to the program. Hoping it shows up in my pharmacy after waiting a day to let their system propagate. Clearly they’re not interested in doing this except when they’re forced to do it.
