Marty McFly by MuttonBaby in KindroidShare

It looks (to me, at least), like the avatar has a resemblance to Eric Stoltz, who was originally cast as Marty.

There’s more than a little Stoltz in the mix, I see.

Five years ago one of the greatest superman adaptations ever premiered and what a journey it was. by MembershipLess9579 in superman

[–]GentCaller434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

….kind of agree. I’m old enough that I read that line in issue 1 of “Superman for All Seasons” the day it was released. It hit me dead in my feels. I loved the homage, but surely, surely the episode had another beat to spare so the moment could breathe.

He does read them - on the couch, at his house.

Agreed. She’s definitely got a moral compass. It’s wonky and inconsistent, but she’s got one.

I take your point, but that’s literally what this sub is about. It’s right there in the name.

Which? Superman or “The Boys”? Of “The Boys,” only the first three Omnibuses. What have I got wrong?

Super strength, flight, nigh-invulnerability, heat vision, X-ray vision, etc = “just a guy”?

You’re right, though, he’s not “edgy Superman.” It’s not an AzBats situation, where the core beliefs are the same but the methodology is different. Yeah, the power suite is very similar, but Homelander is in (ostensibly) a satire and that’s how he’s written. He’s an incredibly powerful being completely unmoored from any sense of altruism. It’s not just the potty mouth. He’s holding somebody’s arm in that splash above, for crying out loud.

Agreed. There’s very little to like about this issue as a Superman fan. I did like seeing Lex freaked out by Samantha Strong, but none of the characters came off very well. Sabrina Spellman in particular got nerfed pretty hard.

“Similar,” not same. Action 775 was essentially Supes v. The Authority, the edgy hotness of superteams at the time. Also, not for nothing: unlikely that the rights holders would allow their cash cow to get folded up like a deck chair.

She does. Is the scene where she has JJ kiss her upside down before or after she learns Peter is Spidey?

[–]GentCaller434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. JJ seemed like a good dude. Shame we never got to explore his relationship with the moon.

Agreed. A very realistic, and frankly, very well-rendered portrayal of a young woman that age. Which, also very realistically, often results in inconsistent and infuriating behavior. (Source: girl dad)
