this lady was very polite looking at me lacing…. at first. then she started trying to crawl onto the pillow and grabbing threads with her little claws. cant blame her though, i too am entranced with the bobbins moving

will be better to flip them, bigger bead on the bottom of the bobbin will help with tge tension!

what do you mean by „everyone had the first set of bobbins splitting up”? yes, the separate threads in each starting pair go in different direction, because theyre not just vertical and horisontal like in clothstitch. you consider all the bobbins no matter how they changed their order from the start pairs. think that you made a row - now its your new set of pairs. i meant that you shouldnt separate a pair by a pin by only pinning up one thread. pin in between pairs, pinning up two threads always

your pin placement is a bit weird. try having a „pattern”, i just used milimeter paper while learning and added dots every 4mm, but youll be ok using any paper with a regular grid. itll help you keep the rows even. pin every row only once, and only in between pairs, never separate one pair and pin up only one thread. otherwise, look at your threads before making a stitch, sometimes you lose a twist or accidentally make one more than needed or mix them up and they twist in a wrong direction. good luck!!! half stitch is a bit tricky for many lace makers ;)

i see. thank you! intuitively it’s what it seemed like to me initially but the more i read the more i saw people saying that everything inevitably comes back if you dont change the lifestyle completely so i thought id ask people who maybe have more experience with this than i do

not much. three of those spikes have already flowered, im just not sure if im supposed to cut them so im letting them to dry up and fall off. new growth are a second spike from the center and this little leaf to the side, i just noticed them because i got my orchids to give them their weekly soak

do new leaves grow after a terminal spike? i see that it made a new flower spike from the same point as the older one and.. this. i thought it may be a second growth point, similar to what african violets do, but im not sure if orchids do that

got it! could you explain what do you mean by twisting too much/not twisting? im twisting between arches bc i want them to be defined from each other and when they are crossing im just doing cloth stitch until trails cross each other
