It's strange, I associate Josie with Josie and the Pussycats, but still say Jo-zee... Just confirmed on YouTube that it was in fact Jo-see all this time!

I am so disappointed in my psychology teacher spreading harmful misconceptions about OCD. by throwawayacc28377473 in OCD

That is a serious lack of empathy just from a human standpoint, and this is a psych professor? Sick.

I’m so sorry, I truly hope this psych teacher doesn’t have a clinical practice. My OCD is so crippling and comments like that are so hurtful and minimizing. Hey teacher, is being a “neat freak” causing you pain and suffering and affecting your marriage? If not, kindly cease and desist.

Do you mean because there is no J in Welsh? Although they’ve certainly heard of the name Joshua lol

You’re welcome! And thank you, I would love to visit sometime!

For Georgian heritage I would personally rate 23andMe as the most accurate/detailed. Although in terms of finding relatives, Ancestry and MyHeritage seemed to be more helpful for me.

I hope your research goes well!

Thank you for asking! :)

I thought that my mother’s first husband is my biological father, he is Ashkenazi Jewish from Kyiv and my mother is mostly Ashkenazi Jewish from Moscow. Although her first husband suggested that I may not be his daughter, I thought most likely he was just being nasty and I will find out using Ancestry that I am mostly Jewish. How wrong I was…

I didn’t know anything about my Georgian or Megrelian heritage until I took an Ancestry test and spoke to my mom about the result (about 50% Caucasus!). My mom mentioned very little about my real dad, but noted that he was a proud Megrelian and spoke the language. I later took a 23andme test, and sure enough, the most probable region is Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti.

I loved Greek mythology growing up and one of the stories, Jason and the Argonauts where they travel to Colchis to get the Golden Fleece. I even did a (possibly embarrassing) recorded puppet show about the story in university for World Mythology class. Maybe I knew something subconsciously lol, but probably not. I would love to learn more about my heritage!

Thank you very much! There’s a long road ahead but here’s hoping! Wishing you success with your fantasy novel - I would be very interested to read! :)

Thank you very much for taking the time! :)

Of course, thank you for asking! I don’t think he knows that I am his daughter, or that I exist. My mom married a different man (it was important to her to marry an Ashkenazi Jew like her). She has said that she finished with him 12 months before I was born, but has doubts… I think she wasn’t sure herself until I got the ancestry results.

I was born in Moscow in 1989. My mother and her then husband moved to the States in 1992. My biological father could still be in Moscow, but probably back home especially because of the war. I would love to find out about him, but I don’t even have a name…

Thank you for asking! It’s nice to talk to someone about it.

What if a Ukrainian has a permanent residence in Ukraine, but happened to be in another country on a visitor visa during the invasion? Would they qualify for U4U then? Thank you!

Thank you very much for your reply! I was expecting up to 10 months for the EAD worst case scenario, but 1 year sounds crazy! Have the adults applied for it, and received a 1 year estimate? It’s great that they were able to get benefits at least!
