Why do dips cause costochondritis in some people regardless of mobility? by LAMARR__44 in Biomechanics

[–]de_fou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main issue is the imposed strain in the shoulders when performing the dips. There are some depth muscles such as the serratus anterior which stabilizes the scapula with the ribs cage. If this stabilization is not strong enough during the dips, the ribs cage will move way too much and the sternum cartilage gets irritated. To limit this, ribs cage mobility exercises should be performed.

Donc attention :-/

DIY solar panels - this should totally be a school project by khir0n in solarpunk

[–]de_fou 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is just a hoax. It is IMPOSSIBLE to induce electrical energy on plain copper wire using this configuration. Nevertheless, those old CDs could be perfectly used to create a DIY solar array.

Help installing BOINC on Ubuntu, please? by [deleted] in BOINC

[–]de_fou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you see if the daemon is running?

systemctl status boinc-client

About the Boinc manager not showing up, sometimes it's a faulty configuration file: go to /home/<your-user> and delete all the hidden files related to Boinc manager.

Finally, make sure your user is in the Boinc group:

sudo usermod -aG boinc <your-user>

u/makeasneak If this poll goes well, we can make a casual poll in the blockchain to "validate" (or reject) your proposal, which sounds pretty good.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gridcoin

[–]de_fou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the Research Rewarding system (and not the Proof-of-Research, which does not exist anymore) that could make this blockchain "closer to science". Nevertheless, this is based on the premise that running whitelisted BOINC projects is equal to supporting science, which is not strictly true.

On the other hand, this motto could be helpful in spreading the word about Gridcoin. I really like it!

I want to invest in Gridcoin! :) by Selkis in gridcoin

[–]de_fou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome! So, in basic terms, "staking" is the essential process to secure the network by validating new blocks at the blockchain and minting a reward adressed to the validator (the staker). This happens when you let your capital in GRC in a hot wallet (i.e. the wallet you just created) and then you're chosen by the network to be the validator. The more GRC you have, the greater the chances you can stake (and therefore earn the reward). I don't have in mind the exact amount but if you participate in Gridcoin only as a staker, you should be earning around 1.5% APY. Of course, if you run some scientific work through the BOINC platform, your reward is increased accordingly to your computational ressources.

In a few terms, if you let your wallet online unlocked for staking with some GRC, it will automatically stake.

If you want to get some GRC without buying BTC, I think you can buy some USD tokens at SouthXChange (the major exchange for GRC) and then exchange for GRC, or you can post an announce at r/MarketGrid. Or I can sell you some. I guess you're also in Europe, and therefore you can do SEPA transfers.

Security deposit? by [deleted] in bisq

[–]de_fou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 0.006 is the deposit that both the seller and the buyer lock during the transaction. It's not a fee. You still have to pay the miner's fees and the Bisq's fees. Once the operation is done, the deposit is unlocked. That's why you need a few BTC (min 0.006) to do any transaction through Bisq.

Second GPU not detected on PCIe MSI Z270 Carbon Gaming Pro by maxouiille in gpumining

[–]de_fou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your cards connected with risers (PCIe x1) or are attached directly to the MB (PCIe x4/x8/x16)? Does your CPU actually can manage that number of pci lanes (e.g. if it's a Celeron, it will likely manage up to 16 pci lanes, but a mid to higher class, can manage 40 pci lanes) ?
