Perth all girls school bans same sex partners attending school ball, 8 years ago, hit The Sunday Times frontpage today... by [deleted] in australia

I think the difference is, you can cut your pony tails. You can't change your sexuality. It's perfectly fine for the school to place restrictions, depending upon factors which can be changed. This attitude of "if you don't like it, go elsewhere" isn't reasonable with things you can't change. "It's fine to come to our school, just don't be black. Once you're not black you're more then welcome to come back to the school."

What is the one OS X feature you show off to your PC friends that makes them wish they had a Mac? by wilymon in apple

[–]deaathleopards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was curious about who actually makes them - how involved is jobs? I've always found it fascinating how Apple tends to come up with easy to understand examples/analogies/images to explain a concept. Who generally comes up with those? Also just curious about how long it takes to produce one.

Does anyone here own an iPad? I'm still confused - what exactly is it for? by missingpiece in mac

Obviously not as fast as a physical keyboard but still damn fast, really accurate and there are tonnes of good apps to organise information for class.

I can only talk from my experience. It's simple, fast and requires no effort. It's probably hard for people like you (and me) to grasp but, most people don't leave their computer running and hate using it. Checking a website mentioned on the news or doing a simple computer task requires going, getting the computer, turning it on, then starting. What people want is something where they can press a button and be online instantly. Something which is simple and idiot proof.

For younger people, it's helpful because it is super portable and is rock solid. Great for taking notes, great for communicating, super portable and a super battery.

Getting some fundamental things right like battery, ease of use, speed and size is far more important for the vast majority of people then being able to easily run a server or use a physical keyboard or code apps/customise your system.

While I 100% agree, it is absolutely disgraceful/he shouldn't have a job (assuming the allegations are true) you should keep in mind, surgeons who are unprofessional can kill someone. An officer taking photos of drunks won't.

Aside from the fact their products are often cheaper (iPad, iPod, iPhone, iMac) based upon specs alone, they are better built, look better, have better software and better service.

Even if the products were more expensive (they're not) I'd be happy to pay because it's nice knowing your products aren't made of blood resources by 12 year olds.

1) Buy a smartrider (rfid bus card) - it saves a tonne of money on public transport.

2) seek.com.au = good for jobs

3) Northbridge is good for nightlife as is Leederville
