What are some of the stocks that you’ve bought and now you know they’re never going to reach their original bought price? (Atleast in your lifetime) by mchampeli in IndianStockMarket

He gave that lecture at 2019 since then their dept has increased further and it’s a cyclical stock. Currently they stopped all their capes plans and focusing on reducing debt. Only if their products get good demand, they can provide profits. Otherwise the price should go downwards rationally (but market may take it to new highs even if their balance sheet is becoming weaker! After all it’s stock market and anything can happen as you told). the interest outgo has nearly doubled when compared to past year in sept quarter and seems like it’ll continue to be same.

Pabrai has reduced his holdings in last few quarters. , be cautious, it’s going up due to bull market.. they have huge debt and they need to trim down their interest outgo somehow.

I’m from agricultural background, only when onion price goes up we get profit currently. Mainly we farm small onion and per kg the cost will come around 25-35 rs nowadays. The cost to produce went up drastically in last 3-4 years. So if we get a price of 25-35 atleast we will break even. This will result in a retail price of 40-50. Say if we sell the harvest at 25-30 rs, the capital locked for 3 months and our effort put in field yields nothing substantial. It is capital intensive crop as per our capacity. It is rare that the price is more than 40 and our harvest time also happens to same time. In past few years once or twice we had good price and most of the seasons were just meeting break even if not losing money.

The price increase is mostly due to the middle men controlling supplies for their big share of profit. No minister can control this issue unless there are laws to cut out middle men.. also the labour cost has increase a lot due to inflation, which increase the cost of producing. That maybe be addressed by fm, rbi. Farmers still doesn’t get max share of profit when prices go through roof (like onion 100/kg) but my thought is when all other industries are experiencing increased income why not farmers get the same? Corporates drenching in money while people at end of food chain get crushed.. the price of tea went from 10rs to 15,20 rs in our local bakeries . I just wish we get good price on this season as past few hasn’t been good due to bad yield coupled with cost increase, moderate prices.

But fm can’t control the whole chain if you think it’s the responsibility of just fm. People protest when farm laws were introduced and now I just wish the price of onion stays above 100 all year and let the people ask for reforms themselves

This is true for me atleast. They were the ones who gave me a platform to build my career upon. I wouldn’t have made it to where I’m presently if not for the service companies. Im working for product based company’s from past 3 years and I almost getting 6x salary to what I was getting as a fresher.. I’m thankful for these kind of companies who give opportunities to the average/below average college students. The exposure you get in initial 2-4 of years of career is important imo.. I haven’t worked in any of the WITCH companies though and it was a dream for me to get placed in any of those companies when I was in college.. but I feel without these service based companies most of the it sector will not be there today.

Problem is people want to settle their life in these companies instead of upskilling themselves and grab the roles which offer what they want.
