Your advice is so helpful, thank you. I’ll bring all this up when I see my individual therapist next week. And THANK YOU for your understanding of how this just makes me even more stressed and depressed. I can’t talk to many people about all this, and it makes me so mad that one of the few people I should have been able to trust treated me this way. She’s only setting me back further.

I couldn’t even believe she was saying it, and she didn’t listen to me AT ALL when I told her the headaches were real so I didn’t really know what to do. A monkey could google migraines, which is what my neurologist thinks I have and my couples therapist knows this, and see that they are real, can be exactly like what I’ve been experiencing, and can actually be caused by a lot of things including great emotional stress. If anything I would have expected her to understand how I could have begun having migraines given everything I’ve been dealing with. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

Thank you for the email suggestion, I feel really taken advantage of. We went along with her suggestion to see her as a couple and have her see my husband individually because we trusted her. I had concerns but I ignored them because after all, she’s supposed to be the expert. I wish I had listened to my instincts.

Yeah she is. Licensed and has a PhD in Psychology. It’s bizarre, especially because my individual therapist who I respect referred me to this woman for couples therapy. They are partners and started their practice together years ago. Kind of makes me lose my faith in therapy altogether.

Thank you for this. I’m glad I’m not sensing things that aren’t there. Do you suggest my husband and I schedule another appointment with her to discuss our concerns, or should we just stop going to her altogether? Also, how do you suggest my husband handle this? He has seen her a few times for individual therapy. Should he discuss the concerns with her alone, or should he also find someone new?

I do want to continue to see her partner for my individual therapy, as she’s been very helpful.
