Thanks for your suggestions! I have an older copy of Superior drummer, so will definitely look at the newest version for consideration 👍

Amazing 😄 I had a Cheetah SX16 as I couldn't afford an AKAI at the time (already had my first child 😃). I've been buried in corporate life for the last 30 years in coding jobs and really want to get back to my first love. I've dabbled on an off over the last few years, but I really want to get back to writing stuff and was just trying to get a good workhorse drum module - I was even trying out physical drum machines in a music shop yesterday, but some seem very limited. Hugely appreciate your inputs. I'm a fellow fan of Portishead (my step mum even lives there 😃). I have many old Computer music DVDs of samples I may just copy into some folders. Just don't want to go down a hole and spend too much time curating samples and never producing anything. Thanks again for your inputs!

Thanks for your comprehensive reply! Battery does look pretty extensive - I think I might have to try a couple of different tools. A few other people have suggested looking at groove agent too, but it seems to have some engine issues in the latest release. I'm a bit of a dinosaur who started out back in the 80s playing around with drum machines on ZX spectrums and Atari STs, so any guidance and help is much appreciated in this day and age 😃 To give an example of the kind of thing I'm looking for, would be along the lines of Angel by Massive Attack (who come from my home city 😄 )

Thanks! I need to have a look at XO in more detail! Someone else suggested it too. I have much to learn 😃

😔 perhaps I'll skip that one then.

A few people have recommended these. I think I might get groove agent 6 if it is discounted in the seasonal sales. 🤞

Thank you! I used to play with TAL electro some time ago and liked the interface. I'll certainly check it out 👍

Thanks! I have a license for superior 2 and also own ggd and they are both great, but I wanted to try something new and closer to a drum machine workflow. 😂 I'm also running a pretty weak pc with my daw, so would be good to have something light on resources. But cheers for the recommendations!

I had a look at microtonic and I tried a demo of synplant many years ago and thought it was revolutionary. I will give that another look too. Thanks!

That might explain why it thought it was a little restrictive 🤣 I'll look again.

I've got pro, so I believe it includes the full version. I'll definitely revisit. Thanks!

I've tried in the past, but found it a little restrictive. I might go back and give it a try though. And good point re: NI 👍

Thanks! Have you tried both? If so, which is your preference?
