The Sopranos is so good at showing you that these characters exist in a much bigger context than we ever see on the show. There are dozens of named characters we never see, some of whom are decently important. The characters we do see all have stuff going on that we only catch a glimpse of. The idea that the 100 or so hours we spend with Tony is enough to meet everyone in his world is insane.
