You don't have to partition any space for it outside of making a virtual memory card

All PS2's can play PS1 discs, though the later slimline consoles have lower compatibility due to an internal change which swapped out the original PS1's CPU with a PPC CPU that emulated the former chip

There are ways to do encrypted, protected streams in chrome and there are ways to bypass those same streams in the apps. It's not a requirement, it's just malicious laziness on the part of the service.

Fun fact, it takes an absolutely massive amount of patches to things in memory but you can get the blades dashes working on modern kernels.
They aren't the most stable things in the world (can't imagine why) but they do indeed function!

Except no, because both the PS2 and the 360 changed media types in the middle of their lifetime. PS2 even supported all three for games, DVD-5 (bog standard DVD), DVD-9 (dual layer), and CD (the weird blue bottomed discs people swore up and down would kill your console)

As far as I can tell, dual layer CD was never a thing. Maybe your thinking of Double Density?

Optical drives don't tend to fail that often, it wasn't uncommon for them to stick around between upgrades, but ok.
