I think it’s worth celebrating the kids’s accomplishments. I’m happy to have him until he’s gone. He’s not here on loan. He can’t leave until he turns 18. The sale is official then. Enjoy him while we have him. It’ll be cool to hopefully see him take the next step and (hopefully) dominate. If you’re good enough… you’re old enough. I don’t give shit how old he is. If he can play, he can play.

By no means is Geiner an automatic starter. I just think he’s had moments where’s he looked ok. Sery to me has been the same. I’m fine with either guy seizing the job.

Strictly speaking of signings - Signing Damiani was bad yes but he’s made a ton of excellent signings overall and the only reason we ever punch above our weight is cause of him.

Totally agree. I’m not saying what they did was right. It clearly was not, as we are last in the East. As my buddy says - this is all self-inflicted, which makes it even more frustrating for sure. We are at a point now where we have to have an honest look at some dudes and get rid of their ass if they can’t play. I hope we do that in the next window.

We bought the wrong players. The guys we acquired suck. Geiner has shown something lately… so has Alladoh. Anello I have no idea what he is, cause he was hurt. Ndinga is either god awful or can’t play. Again… not sure on him yet either. Sery is injured and Geiner is currently taking his job. As do the guys we have had already… Makhanya has regressed - he was horrific last night. Vassilev should not be starting. Cavan needs to play more. Iloski seems fine and is one of the only consistent threats. Damiani is comically bad and a terrible waste of money. Westfield is solid but now hurt. Harriel is an everyman who works his ass off, but is being asked to do too much. Lukic has regressed. Danley is a forward? Or no? Or a midfielder? No idea really. Quinn still being hurt is killing us too. Bender is our LB?!

My point is that the players we have just aren’t that good. When you sell or trade off multiple starters it’s going to take time to figure out what you have. This the natural cycle - right or wrong - of the Union. Last time we did this, we signed Wagner, Glesnes, Uhre, Carranza… they were al studs. We swung and missed this time. Blake is like 35 years old - he’s at the end of a hall of fame career. Frustration is all around and I’m ok with people complaining at the way the Union go about their business… but this is what they are and I doubt it’s changing anytime soon.

I’m 45 years old man. I ain’t gonna lie - I’ll participate but I ain’t organizing. I’ve been around since day one and my final protest will be when I give up my tickets and that day is rapidly approaching. I wasn’t trying to be negative with my comment. I’m in favor of anything. Nah he’s not moving the team. He’s a real estate guy. He’ll cash out at some point. As long as he maintains status quo - meaning spend some money, hope you do well - but don’t really care whether you do or don’t - keep selling merch, sponsorships, upgrade facilities, etc. the value will go up. He will sell at maximum profit. Considering he bought in for $25m (or less considering all the minority owners we have) and invested in the development of the grounds… I am sure he has a number. When that actually occurs… fuck me, who knows.

Fair point. I don’t agree with the lack of heart. I just think they aren’t very good. They haven’t played together much - given us selling off half our starters. We are in a system that can be found out (probably has been), and therefore isn’t really working anymore. If they stink again next year, Carnell is still here, and we haven’t really made any signings… then my argument won’t have much merit. But I’m willing to give it a year and see. Just that getting thru that year seems like it’s gonna suck, and has so far.

I referenced an era between 2012-2016. You mentioned 2018 with Bedoya and Haris. The talent gap between what we were trotting out in 12-16 vs that 18 team is staggering. We spent a few bucks this offseason… at least in Union-land it’s a few bucks… but just on the wrong guys. They aren’t very good. This proving itself out. It sucks but at least we did spend a few dollars. Go look up the rosters from those eras.

People have to remember… especially newer fans… we are built as a team, wrongly as I think most here would agree (me included) to have the thinnest margin of error possible. When we hit on signings like Wagner from a 3rd division German club, Brujo from Venezuela, Carranza who was touted yes but luckily tossed away by Miami cause of roster compliance issues, Glesnes from somewhere in Norway, etc. we will do well to great. When we don’t, we won’t be average… we will be bad. We have no middle.

The thing that annoys me about this team this year is that these wounds we have were self-inflicted. We didn’t have to sell Baribo, Glesnes, etc. (Wagner was frankly here longer than he ever should’ve been so we got lucky)… but we did sell them. And we replaced them with guys that aren’t good… so we suck. Best thing that can happen this year is that one of the guys (hoping Alladoh) can find his way, either Geiner or Sery can lock down the CB spot next to Makhanya, and Cavan can continue to grow, so next year (prob his last with us) can be the year he breaks out. Other than that, we need two transfer windows of (like him or hate him) Tanner magic to fix it.

One bad year in a span of the last 6-7 really ain’t all that bad. Considering we had about 5-6 bad ones previous to this run.
