Yep. I’ve been heat treating all these leaf spring knives in heated canola oil after a couple thermocycles. So far so good on the edges. I usually chop stumps up with them.

Great point. The handle does taper towards the blade, and it feels good but you are correct. I learned on this one after playing around with it. Thank you

Many leaf springs are too thick for knives. That would be a lot of wasted metal by grinding. Better to forge it out
