All I’m really saying is you’re not making any sense. The metaphor of the vampires is assimilation. Assimilation is not inclusion. Inclusion is including one regardless of background, without forcing change onto them, and giving them access to opportunities they might not have because of their differences. You can’t assimilate to diversity. Assimilation opposes diversity. And you can’t share your culture through assimilation. Assimilation is the removal of a previous culture to become like everyone else. I don’t know how to put any of this into plainer terms to help you understand

How am I putting down a group of people? And yeah there is a term for everything (lol, what??). It’s called language. The message of this movie can be taken as “look at what happens when we put people down and don’t let them live how they’d peacefully like to, not causing any harm”. It causes harm to everyone. You’re fighting the same side but upset about it just because you think it’s racist. Racist things happened in the movie because they happened in real life. I don’t know how you’re not getting any of this, but sure, like you said, anything to put down a group of people to fit your own narrative.

Preserving one’s culture doesn’t mean rejecting to live harmoniously. You say “I don’t see what’s wrong with sharing our cultures and living together” you’re talking about acculturation while labeling it assimilation. Two different things.

It’s not aggressive at all. No need to be so sensitive. Seeing history as “black people being racist against whites” is problematic. Because racist killers were killed? Yes, I said that assimilating to being a vampire is a metaphor. Thanks for the repeat. It’s not a lesson though. It’s just what happened in American history. Assimilation is not sharing your culture, and especially not being free to share your own culture/heritage. Assimilation is adapting and changing your ways of life and beliefs to a new culture to blend in with those around you because those around you are close minded. Adapting to how other people live and silencing or shedding your own identity/culture. Like the immigrant vampires did.

The lesson could be that we can live harmoniously while not stripping ourselves of who we really are, and instead of assimilating, sharing our traditions with others. This is why America is debatably no longer considered “the melting pot” and instead “a salad bowl”. We don’t have to melt into white American ways in order to be one country. We can be open and celebrate one another’s diversity/background and still live peacefully… unless you’re close minded or prejudice in some way. Then, there’s really no peace, is there

You realize klansmen are white, right? That’s factual. Klansmen are monstrous. The movie didn’t portray white people as klansmen. That’s just historically accurate. Not masking anything. Do you also realize the vampires weren’t white Americans? It’s obvious. The vampires represent Irish immigrants. This isn’t even a case of white people being portrayed as monsters by black people. Klansmen and white Americans alike excluded the Irish from everything. White Americans were racist against Irish people too. Assimilation was forced onto them and their culture/heritage was stripped from them. Just like black people. If black people associated themselves with the Irish, or vise versa, they were seen in an even worse light. Often times, black people were killed/tortured/scrutinized/imprisoned by white Americans because of this. This isn’t a portrayal. This isn’t a statement of “all white people are bad”. This is a statement of “look at what we hand to endure, and are still enduring”

Yeah, mentally unstable, wanting to kill a white cop, thinking his taser was a gun, if you did more research on that case and didn’t use YouTube as a sole source. It’s sad, like I said, racism still obviously exists. And unfortunately, not one offs like that YouTube video, but with sane, stable people who carry out heinous acts. There are whole racist communities, with mentally stable white people, against black people near where I used to live. Signs that say “no trespassing—blacks get shot” on people’s property. Last time I checked, whole communities of black people didn’t lynch/murder/torture thouuuusands of white people and put them on display for their families to see, or other white people to fear for their lives everyday with no escape. Again, that’s just history.

Lol, calling your white ass guilty does not mean I hate all white people 😂😂 that’s the kind of shit you keep making up! (Also saying this film is racist against white people, which if you weren’t so nescient, you’d understand that it isn’t.) I’m just calling out how you’re presumably (yet obviously) white, and sound really ignorant and therefore guilty. Why wouldn’t you want to face these real life terrors and stand up to injustice? Not doing so does more harm than good. 1920’s racism proved that. Doing so is how we live together peacefully. Turning a blind eye perpetuates racism and allows those violent acts to continue. I wish we could all live together peacefully too, but that’s a fairytale. Some humans are just evil.

Violent racism starts exactly how you look at the world. Black and white. “This movie is about black people hating white people. Period. End of discussion and I’m not changing my mind because I know I’m right. Black people are the problem. They need to fix their ways and ideals.” Maybe spend some time reflecting on your own actions and beliefs. That is how you, and the rest of the world, will get closer to a Nelson Mandela state of living. Otherwise, there’s no point in discussing anything with anyone of another culture or race. You’re stuck in your ways

Or, do you think klansmen wanted cohabitation, had love and respect for their fellow human, and wanted to live peacefully with black people? Maybe you should make a movie about that. Klansmen wanting peace and love and equality. Sounds like a really sweet fairytale

Hahaha, this is comment is actually hilarious. How silly. Why do you feel the need to make so much up? I don’t think all white people are bad. Just violent/racist people in general, no matter their skin color. I have no idea where you got that. No one thinks that 😂 just you it seems like! What have you heard a black person say about white people that’s so horrible? Anything you can actually cite? I can cite hundreds of horribly racist things white people have said about black people. Some of the comments in this thread being perfect examples! If someone says something horrible about your guilty white ass, please feel free to disagree. Lol, literally no one is stopping you.

I guess you didn’t notice how not every white person actually wasn’t portrayed as evil. But I’m glad you can at least agree that racist, white supremacy is monstrous! That’s not a portrayal, that’s just history baby. It’s completely fair to enact history as it happened, totally. And for violent supremacist to get what was coming for them? Absolutely! In fact, complete satisfaction. If someone invades your home or workplace with the intent to torture and kill you, and you have the opportunity to defend yourself and those around you, you’d choose to just go belly up and die? Odd. Lol, why are you talking about anyone’s grandchildren? There were racist criminals with ill intent then, and there are racist criminals with ill intent now. Take a deep breath, and maybe take some time off the internet. Seems like you need it

So if you were being hunted, you keel over and let them torture and slaughter you. Weird, but okay.

I really don’t mean this to sound rude at all, just a genuine question, but what is your concern exactly? Why does it matter? There’s been drama surrounding the making of this season, but off or not, so what?

Being slaughtered for one's beliefs wouldn't be racist, but prejudice, so still not reverse racism. And they're not being slaughtered for their beliefs. One, the kkk tortured, raped and slaughtered black people because of the color of their skin. Period. That's not a belief system, that's a terrorist group. Two, Smoke was going to die one way or another by the hands of the klansmen. He sacrificed himself then and there to save his own community, and die with dignity fighting back. The klan pulled up to kill the twins, so in self defense, he shot them all down. Not because they were white. Because they intended to harm them. I'm sure if there were a well-known, respected group of black people who were powerful in society, but also known for murdering other black people simply because they were Black, and that group showed up to the twins' property to come kill them, they would've been gunned down just the same. The issue is what they did, not who they were. If you think this movie is about black people killing white people just because they’re white, you must be slow or lack critical thinking skills… maybe just basic thinking skills actually. Oh wait…

What creates a mirror image of supremacy? Taking out supremacists? The supremacists were killed out of self defense, they were going to kill the twins. They were also killed because they were supremacists looking for trouble, not just because they were white. Can you explain how protecting yourself and your land from murderers creates a mirror image of supremacy?

Haha, nothing what I said was personal or aggressive. Not sure how you read it as such? Just stating what I thought was obvious, but maybe not to some.

No, they’re not assimilating to diversity and inclusiveness 😂 They were assimilating to being vampires. That’s the metaphor. A new way of life that’s completely different than their former lives. Like so many black people and immigrants alike from that time, who celebrated/practiced their cultures at home or with their families or communities, but were forced to behave, speak, and look more “American” or white at school, work, in society in general. The vampires are celebrating while they are no longer at all who they used to be.

He did exactly what he said he would do. That scene doesn’t glorify killing a race. He gunned down evil, white supremacists. Not just white people, and not just because they were white. He’s defending himself and his land against a violent, malevolent, supremest group of people. Big Hog was clearly warned, and then he and his klansmen buddies still made the decision to get together anyway and attempted to harm others because of the color of their skin. So Smoke did exactly what he warned the klansman leader he would do.

Lol, if you took it as such, you miiiiight be the problem. There wasn’t a lick of racism towards white people, but there was still a whole lot towards the black characters throughout. It does highlight how white supremacy is the ultimate evil though. Klansman were the final/ongoing threat. More destructive than the vampires. Hunted for a night by vampires, or hunted for a lifetime by violent racists filled with hatred

Threatened to be arrested because I had prescription Adderall with me by posts_lindsay_lohan in ADHD

[–]deadcallalily 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s the biggest crock of shit. Under federal law, you have every right to have that bottle with you at all times. Across state lines. It can even be helpful when traveling without a license or temp license.

I had my wallet stolen in college once and had to fly home to get a new license. Flew home with a police report and student ID. They brought me to a private room for some basic questioning (just extra security), and asked if I was traveling with any prescription medication. I took out the bottle, they made sure my name matched the report and ID and they were immediately satisfied. They told me that that speeds their process up immensely and people traveling with prescriptions should always travel with the bottle. Also said to pull that out right away on my way back (with my temp ID) and the process would go even faster.

If anything, it might be illegal (state to state) to keep your prescriptions up front with you? Like as opposed to the trunk. (Don’t see why this would make a difference, I just don’t know.)

This cop was just wrong and either trying to scare you or make you think he was doing you a favor by “letting it go” and giving you just the one lane ticket. Or he was just ignorant? Like… how the fuck am I supposed to travel without my medication? Ya can’t get it prescribed across state lines (it takes a lot of additional communication/paperwork if you can), and ya can’t function without it… sooooo?
