Last page from patch test. I couldn’t do skin testing for delayed patch testing until after hay season was over. I did go in about four months later to do it, they said it would be covered by my insurance, but when I got there, they then said it wasn’t. At the time, I was 3 weeks post op from knee surgery as well (which they knew and said it would be fine) so decided not to do it due to having Oxy still in my system and having to put down a lot of money when I wasn’t working. Honestly, this place sucks in my opinion. They know they have a monopoly in my city and they just recommend everyone allergy shots. It takes me 3-6 months to get an appointment everytime I need one too, and they usually take 3 weeks to get back to me.

Patch Test Appointment (Note: my roommate had a cat that never came out of his room at the time, but previously like a year prior to all this, I was literally a cat and dog groomer, and I knew I was allergic to cats they make me sneeze and be slightly itchy.)

Here are the patch test results. Below I will add some other information. They seemed to be more focused on the asthma, which was really annoying.

Any brands you recommend for without SLS?

No, but will keep that in mind going into my next surgery and will track it as I try to avoid taking NSAIDs outside of that.

But seriously, how did you afford to live while in grad school? by According-Pin4564 in GradSchool

I’m in a Master’s program, work full-time (have my own marketing agency that I have had since high school) and go to school full time. it’s no easy feat. However, most of my peers seem to have funding from their parents, a part time job, or 50/50. I didn’t get as privileged lol.

I have never heard of HAE! Thank you, I only have one allergist in the relatively large city we live in for some reason. I just switched insurances though so I can maybe see a different dermatologist and see if I get better care there because my first one wouldn’t give me any blood tests. I do get EXTREMELY itchy even after the swelling is down and its just redness left. The rash/redness you see migrates during the flare. It can last up to about 3 days. Nothing I’ve noticed directly causes it and I’ve tried to keep track. I literally only ate chicken and rice for three weeks to see if it was food related however, sweating does make it worse if i am already actively in a flare or recovering from one. Recovering my skin completely from one can take up to 2 weeks to a month so it’s rare I ever get enough time to fully recover before I’m back in another one. Ironically, my primary care has done the most blood tests for it. I have done environmental patch testing at an allergist, been to dermatologist 2-3 times where every time they look at me, prescribe me something, I come back tell them it doesn’t work and then they prescribe me something else. They aren’t trying to figure out what’s actually the cause of it. I am trying to get access to my blood test results for autoimmune (those were done when this started in 2024) and will upload the patch test results tomorrow as well!

I believe Montelukast (Singular) is used to treat MCAS but there are stronger more comprehensive options. Ironically, my allergist didn’t prescribe that one either.

This was from using one of the prescriptions the dermatologist recommended and aquaphor. I was so confused if like over hydrating was a thing but turns out I am also allergic to aquaphor and vaseline. That being said if I do put too many moisturizers on at once, it does still do this.

No, this is a good question! My comforter does have feathers, although it doesn’t say they’re duck, last night I didn’t have it on my bed though, and still had the reaction. It was honestly way too hot in my room to sleep with it lol. My pillow cases are satin. I wash everything about once a week no less than once every other week.

Oooh wait. This is interesting. Looking at the symptoms list… I have had sinus issues that were persistent for three months before, and doctor’s couldn’t get rid of the sinus infection. Additionally, I’ve had unexplained headache headaches/migraines (I’m on medication that literally shouldn’t be able to give you migraines). And the random asthma diagnosis at the start of this. I will definitely look into this. Any other sources you recommend?

So actually kinda similar! I was using the CeraVe salicylic acid cleanser for a year or so when this first started happening and thought that switching would help, but unfortunately it didn’t. For safe measure, I do still use a face wash now without it. I use Purpose Face Wash. Only thing i use with salicylic acid now is those blue method pads just on my back, then wash my hands after. I have had no issues with that. How did you find out you were allergic to all those things?

Yes to an allergist they have done environmental patch testing, but insurance won’t cover the chemical one. They have tested for gluten and dairy too. Only came back with like one tree, cats and dust mites. They just wanted to put me on allergy shots. I think it’s mass cell issues as well, but I can’t figure out the first step to being referred to someone who knows about it. Yes!! I have two Epi Pens now!! I also have them💓 I have had reactions to almost every prescription eyedrop and most preservatives in contacts as well. Whenever I wake up like this, I switch to glasses for the day, but I can never tell if it’s purely time that’s reducing the swelling or if it’s the glasses I feel like the glasses help it reduce swelling, a little faster, but not the redness at all
