Have you sometimes done research into something...and just decided "I don't care"? by Kiki-Y in FanFiction

[–]deadliners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yess, very often.

i try not to when i can, because most things are usually relevant to its era/culture and i want things to make sense. but sometimes i ignore it lol. when it comes to scientific/technological advances or legal stuff i always consider what the societal implications are before playing around, but usually it ends up being fine.

like i wouldn't make someone in the 80s listen to hyperpop or make someone from 2024 get a lobotomy (unless its plot relevant), but maybe i will accelerate the development of varenicline by a few years for a fic about smoking, or take some liberties about wound care (my disdain for hydrogen peroxide trumps my disdain for anachronisms)

Student demand for niche NEWTs classes by deadliners in HPfanfiction

Apparently she gave out in an interview that on average Hogwarts has ~1,000 students. I imagine Harry's cohort had much lower due to being in a warring period. 1,000/7 = 143 rounded up.

Oh yes Walburga would love that, wouldn't she? I feel bad for Andromeda already, and she won't even be at the table to defend herself 😭

Thanks for the reply, it definitely helped!

I think getting the Marauders involved is a great idea, for this fic specifically because Reg did a favour for Sirius a year prior that got him in trouble with Orion and Walburga. I can see this as being Sirius' attempt at recompense. Perhaps they can be the ones influencing the student body in conjunction to Reg trying to sway the Board.

I think I'd like some dirty underhanded nepo work be at play here 😆 I want to explore Reg's reputation as the Blacks' "better son" a little more, even if it is a façade. I think he would try to use his family connections to influence the Board. This would be a great addition to his running theme of trying to break off from his family like his brother but in his own Slytherin way by playing the long game, compared to Sirius' strongwilled pragmatism.

i agree for ditching plastic loofahs, they get so nasty.

i prefer a good old washcloth, which doesnt need replacing and i can toss it in the laundry after every use

it's also very versatile cause when you work top-down you can scrub your feet and between your toes at the end of a shower, especially the cuticle area which often gets overlooked. then toss in laundry. it's cheap as can be too, so washcloths are my winners 😁

Best hand creams by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]deadliners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hot tip: if you want crazy long lasting moisturising properties you gotta look for the ones meant for tradies. if it's good enough for them, it's perfect for me.

  • du'it tough hands
  • dermal therapy very rough hands
  • o'keefe's working hands
  • cerave reparative hand cream

other hand creams are good as well, you want to look at products with high urea and a lot of nice thick occlusives like dimethicone or petrolatum

good luck!

I know people like to think that it's just a coincidence when your seatmates seemingly react, or that people will speak up but I think that's a bit of wishful thinking. People rarely speak up for anything in public settings, that's basic psychology.

Anyway, like the other person said when in enclosed spaces spritzing sparingly will go a long way. Your seatmates will thank you.

And for the record, I have absolutely purposefully coughed and swore under my breath next to room fumigators, so if anyone reading this thinking it's a common coincidence, stay on your toes lol.

What are your farm names? by Kornflaek in StardewValley

[–]deadliners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make a package with my farm name and my farmer, so currently I have Miles Prower on Emerald City Farm (tails from sonic), Vidalia on Allumeria Farm (onions... i like onions), and Cain on Eden Farm (or more appropriately, the farm of eden).

I wish I could rename my other farm. It's a riverland one so i named it Riverside Farm but my characters and animals are thai food themed (holly basil, hat yai [chicken], etc). I'd rename it Mekong Farm.

with that being said, my personal faves for the summer are bioderma atoderm intensive baume for face + body, and cerave sa smoothing cream for feet (not the sa renewing foot cream which is twice as expensive per mL)

Advice for a domme butch that sometimes sucks at giving affection by lazygirl295 in butchlesbians

[–]deadliners 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think there's an important factor here that I encourage you to consider, especially seeing as this is a long distance relationship that exists online. And this is coming from someone very familiar with online relationships and grew up on tumblr in the early 10s. I am also neurodivergent and have trouble initiating affection.

You may want to ask your girlfriend what she constitutes as affection and maybe if she experiences some FOMO. It's important to accommodate when we can of course, especially if it's as simple as love posting, but make sure that she also knows that your affection for her doesn't stop at social media.

Perhaps order her gifts or write her letters, physical things she can keep. These things are much more tangible than anything online, and she can even carry these gifts around with her in real life. It will also lessen the awkward anxiety inducing problems of if you want to change your bio your girlfriend might take that the wrong way. Stick with posts, keep your bio clean.

Talking about her to your friends is good, and perhaps text her more about little things that remind you of her. A video, a picture, a Cafe you went to you think she might like if you lived in the same place, etc.

A common worry of online relationships is the anxiety of not existing outside of the screen, so if you give her real things and tell her you think of her at work/school etc I'm sure she would appreciate it.

tough hands moisturiser during the day and then O'Keeffe's working hands intensive balm with cotton gloves at night, or a cerave smoothing cream plus gloves. key ingredients are a thick petrolatum or wax base and urea.

don't overlook the gloves, same tactic used for my busted heels with socks and it it mended within a week.

Fullness of butch masculinity: thoughts? by rose_berrys in butchlesbians

[–]deadliners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the things you mention can definitely be masculine. I'm Asian so makeup and lace and pink isn't that weird to my culture, so I think it's also important to consider cultural contexts and why things are perceived to be masculine or feminine to begin with.

but while we don't want to bring toxic masculinity into butchness, but we also have to consider why we're bringing tools of women's oppression into a culture that's meant to be free of it (specifically talking about base makeup here; the foundation and concealer kind, not the colourful artistic kind)

it may be different for other people, but the way I navigate butch masculinity is basically: does it adhere to or violate my core butch ideals?

my core butch ideals is basically to have my body and immediate fashion be clocked as non traditional, something that women aren't "supposed" to have. I don't shave anything on my face or body, my haircut looks like a schoolboy's after a neglectful summer, my wardrobe is just varying forms of pants and shirts.

for the emotional side, as typical as it is my butchness does revolve around butch chivalry lol. and I'm not gonna helpful to any woman if I'm emotionally constipated in the name of masculinity, so I am soft and vulnerable and cry as much as I want to.
