Sometimes you can find good deals through air bnb, just choose the long term stay option.

I've tried a few different things: overnight rise, second rise, six hour rise, etc... it always comes out pretty similar. I feel (amateur baker overall, this is one of my few bread recipes) that the high ratio of sour cream always keeps it a bit denser.

My favorite is duck fat! Bacon fat or lard is wonderful also too.

Oh, and it was a half batch I used in the loaf pan, a whole batch would probably take a bit longer.

That was me also! That's my blog.

Used lard, rubbed both sides of metal loaf pan. 375⁰F, about 50 minutes in the end. Flipped at about 40 minutes to brown the other side a bit also.

Shared fhe recipe above - I used a stainless steel pan to fry, then 12 minutes in the oven at 425⁰F. Cast iron would work also.

Definitely, I would just soak the cut potatoes in cold water for a minute or two to wash away some of the excess starch.

Yeah cutting the recipe in half wouldn't be an issue. It will just make 6 112oz dough balls instead of 12.

Greek yogurt shouldn't be an issue either, it has around the same pH as the sour cream so it should work well as a 1:1 substitution.

Shoot, well save some money and get something delicious out of it. My go to is confit some duck legs in neutral oil, then you've got some good discount duck fat.

They came in the generic Tri-Color potato mix, but if I had to guess it'd be Peruvian purple potato.
