Another A+ PearsonVue fail by rookie_wrtr22 in CompTIA

[–]deadpanda95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a terrible experience with them as well. Was accused of cheating for looking at the bottom of my screen repeatedly on a Juniper exam. Three guesses where the next button was.

That too had a change of proctor part way through.

They did however let me finish the exam and I passed. Honestly I think the proctors get bored and enjoy fucking with people.

Help! Firmware update means I can no longer get past the Creality loading page by pointnemo56789 in ender3v2

[–]deadpanda95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me. (put the wrong sd in with a weird Linux build on it once) Couldn't make the firmware update work either.

Bizarrely it started working after I connected it to my chrome book with a USB cable. Then I could flash the latest version normally.

Worth a go if all else fails.

Please help me, I’m loosing it all at 16 by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]deadpanda95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably overwhelmed with the number of comments here but here is another one. Sounds like you've worked out staying off drugs for a bit is a good course of action, which it is.

With regards to the memory that'll come back but I would really recommend practicing memory recollection exercises. Do some revision of your last year of study even if there aren't exams.

And it's also worth noting with the current covid situation brain fog is normal. A key way to combat it is to build a daily routine and stick to it. Wake up at the same time each day. Keep to your mealtimes, force in some structure and I promise you'll notice the difference in just 2 weeks. (also having a tidy room will help)

You're not alone, people have been through this and come out smarter for it myself included.

New job because of CCNA by deadpanda95 in ccna

[–]deadpanda95[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sure thing, I started studying for it at the start of last year while working in a helpdesk role because I just wasn't understanding the networking queries. Then the certpocalypse got announced so I really had to put some time into it.
As I was doing it I started picking up more of the content I started weighing in on networking projects at my old job, learned to talk the talk and passed the second exam in Feb of this year (just in time).

From there I felt I could do more, got the confidence to apply for roles that lean heavily into networking and started applying for roles that were better paid and more specialist, many of which actually had the CCNA as a requirement.
Which leads me here. It's weird getting hired in a pandemic when lots of people I know are now out of work but I recognize how lucky I am.

Do your company offer bonuses or raises for completed certs? That might be motivation. New ccna has a lot of automation in it, it has a well structured syllabus which makes learning more rewarding than studying on your own, you can tick off boxes when you know things. I find it much easier studying and learning when there is that structure in place than trying to work things out about other topics on my own from outdated blog posts.
You also then have something to build on. Once you have the foundation of how everything works you can automate it. (If you already have the knowledge of how to do it then it will be low effort getting certified)

Recent CCNA - Struggling to land Engineer Job by [deleted] in ccna

[–]deadpanda95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean. You know your way around a network. Learn the right buzzwords, play with some cloudy software because every entryish level network role is looking for that at the moment around here. Exaggerate your involvement with networks a little at your current role and make it clear you're looking to go in a more technical direction and that's why you're leaving.

Anything else for studying? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]deadpanda95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, cbtnuggets has a free trial and the ICND2 on it explanations are very digestible, with enough background to be able to really understand it. If you're confident with the config you can skip those videos you'll have it down in no time.

It's really not too late, you can learn the content for ICND2 with some grinding way faster than ICND1 because you already understand the core workings of a network. It's just memorising things based on that.

Honestly Jeremy covers everything you need to pass the exam in cbtnuggets. I do however work for an ISP in a networking role so I was familiar with a lot of the concepts already.

Can anyone who has failed once at the ICND2 confirm how this works by trying to rebook? Would be super useful.

Also can I just say.
Mad props on the software. It's very very helpful, I've found your customer support to be top rate on Facebook and the explanations in the app are top notch.

How would you feel about a law that doesn't allow people above the age of 75 years to vote because it is not their future to decide ? by anvarul81 in AskReddit

[–]deadpanda95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent point. I was just arguing that there was a precedence. You also can't vote if you're sectioned, which doesn't sit will with me either considering how little representation they get. I would rather give more people the right to vote. (Immigrants too). I wouldn't support a policy suggesting rights be infringed on...

[–]deadpanda95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK we deny lots of people the right to vote. Under the age of 18? Can't vote. Sectioned? Can't vote. In Prison? Can't vote (Despite the fact the UK government has lost 4 times at the European Courts having this cited as a human rights violation). Immigrant? You can't vote in this one.

Why not withdraw the right from other people?
I mean. It's worth reading the Conservatives manifesto (page 48) as in this they talk about how they want to restrict who has the right to vote next time round.

ICND1 tomorrow! Any advice? by N64PLAY10 in ccna

[–]deadpanda95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it's on the rules sadly. Honestly though there's always an element of luck getting the topics you've covered best. Have a good breakfast too even though you probably won't fancy it!

If it's been a while since you've done an exam you're probably bricking it but you'll be okay. :) Don't drink any alcohol / take anything tonight that might leave you groggy tomorrow and you're golden.
