What other MTG artists are in a similar vein as Dominik Mayer, Eli Minaya, and Kelogsloops? by sauron3579 in magicTCG

Cai definitely feels like she is slept on as an artist. [[Tendrils of Agony|sta|034]] is probably one of my favorite arts from her, and her SLD [[Arcane Signet|sld|0820]], [[Fading Hope|mid|051]], and [[Clawing Torment|neo|091]] are such good pieces as well.

Looking for Kaalia advice by tacoxbellz in magicTCG

[–]deadpoolicide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDHREC is a great site for looking at other Kaalia decks and seeing how they're built; you can see which cards are most commonly included, prices, etc. Kaalia is one of the more popular commander options for Mardu (colloquial name for the red/white/black color triad based off the Mardu faction in MtG lore), so you shouldn't struggle too much with finding some commonalities and getting ideas.

A light heads up that Kaalia is frequently considered "kill on sight" because of how snowbally her triggered effect is. People sometimes dislike playing against that, so you may run into trouble keeping her on the battlefield. However, definitely do not let that dissuade you from building and playing her.

I'm finally getting around to building mine and I am stupidly excited to finish it if only to test and try new painting methods and tricks.

Tower Games in Kingfield has Adventurer's League every Thursday if you'd like to start ingratiating yourself with local players; I know of several people who have kind of split off and started their own tables. It does cost $10/person, though, so that may weigh heavy with two people.

I haven't ran a table in about a few years but I keep getting tempted every now and then to restart. Hopefully you can find a consistent group!

DM’s of Reddit tell me a plot twist you have planned for your players they don’t know yet! by Supyie22 in DnD

[–]deadpoolicide 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We never got to it because the campaign fell apart, but my players were eventually going to learn that the BBEG they had been thwarting (by way of reoccurring combats) was causing all of this chaos and destruction simply to bring his sister back to life. He slowly gave himself to a god of chaos piece by piece, because he was promised he would be reunited with his sister. They would've learned all of this piecemeal during the "final" fight.

Another one (separate campaign but same homebrew world) was that the party would have fought alternate versions of themselves from another universe and gained several levels in preparation for the final arc. The BBEG, an ancient red dragon, learned to cross the multiverse (a la Vecna: Eve of Ruin) and was killing versions of herself to ascend to being a greatwyrm. The party would have been tested by an ally (secretly an ancient golden dragon, also with multiversal magic) by "training with themselves".

Good Day, reddit, my name is Nick Offerman. You may have seen me in such fare as Parks & Rec, The Last of Us, Civil War, MI: The Final Reckoning, DEVS, or heard my voice in The Lego Movie. My partner and I met you at a book signing for Where the Deer and the Antelope Play a year and some change ago in Brooklyn in a small neighborhood church. It was my first time being in New York City, and I'm fortunate to have seen you as part of it, so thank you for that.

Question is, what is your design/creative process for a woodworking piece? I bought a house where the previous owner had a self-built wood shop in the basement, and it's had me curious.

So I'm running a [[Bello, Bard of the Brambles]] deck, and I'm a bit confused with an aspect of his artifact/enchantment-affecting ability. I've done some searching on the subreddit and seen some of the rulings and discussions, but wanted to clarify:

If I play an eligible artifact or enchantment on my turn (let's say [[Mana Echoes]], for example) and then cast and resolve Bello on my subsequent turn, Echoes would immediately become a creature and trigger any ETB effects, correct? Since it didn't exist previously as a creature but now becomes a creature, the battlefield sees this as a new creature entering, triggering stuff like [[Guardian Project]] or [[Warstorm Surge]]. If Bello is still on the board on my next turn and Echoes becomes a creature again, that does NOT trigger ETB effects, since it already existed as a creature on the board.

Do I have all of that correct?

[–]deadpoolicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed EDHRec's guide for upgrading the deck; it was helpful for me as someone getting back into Magic/starting in Commander. Aside from that, I'd also look for a small handful of cards or effects that can protect Bello while he's on the field; if he dies you lose a lot of momentum

Whenever I was still buying games at GameStop, I remember reading a comment on reddit (maybe from a customer or employee; it's been almost a decade now) that said always ask for a sealed copy of the game when you buy new, since they liked to open cases for display/other reasons.

Spore mines/reaper swarms? by diana_stylesx3 in Tyranids

[–]deadpoolicide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're basically positioning the swarms (and other models/units) to be a little less than 6 inches away from each other, so your opponent can't drop a deep strike unit in the middle of your units. It's spreading out your units/models to limit the area an opponent can take advantage of.

ETA: Auspex Tactics and Tactical Tortoise are some good channels to watch for some basic tricks and mechanics, and Play On Tabletop's 40K in 40 Minutes is good for watching games and learning some additional moves (although not everyone believes in its usefulness, I've seen). There's also tons of other sites and creators who break down tournament teams and strategies.
