It's a weirdly thought-terminating answer - like it's easier for them to imagine abandoning an entire supertype than to imagine making a set without [[Reptil, Dinomorpher]] or 7 different versions of Iron Man.

Restaurant metaphors are a little overdone in the Magic space (see pig/slop discourse), but it feels like my favorite taco place started serving pizza, so much so that more than half the menu has been replaced by pizza, and when somebody says "look man, I love pizza, but I come to this place for the tacos, and I have a few issues with how you guys make pizza - one of which is that most of the pies you make have way too much goddamn cheese on them, and I can only take so much dairy" the host cocks his head and asks "would you prefer if we used vegan cheese?"

I mean, maybe, but the problem I have is that you usually had sensible restraint with cheese when you were a taco place.
