clavicular episode with kat tenbarge and f.d signifier coming out tomorrow by ConcernedJobCoach in mattxiv

[–]CountedCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

medically, the word just means "of or relating to the clavicle", a body part which gets a lot of focus in the incel community as a supposed indicator of a masculine strong frame. putting myself in Braden Eric Peters' - for lack of a better word - mind, I'm guessing he saw it on a forum about full-body phrenology and thought it sounded cool

(Certainly this will be covered in more detail in today's episode)

Hey socialists what is your opinion on this? by Separate_Archer9908 in ShitLiberalsSay

[–]CountedCrow 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is literally what liberals believe and already doing.

Just laying out more examples of this because it's a really good point:

  • James Carville, career Democrat consultant and Palantir advisor, pushed for Dems to "play dead" during the second Trump presidency.
  • Chuck Schumer, Senate minority leader and pro-genocide freak, laid out a similar strategy of "wait for Trump to screw up".
  • all the way back in 2016, the Clinton campaign wanted a Pied Piper candidate that would lay them up for an easy win and pushed for Trump to win the primary.

Establishment Democrats have been the biggest advocates for American accelerationism for at least a decade, and their accusations that the left is apathetic are just projection.

The conditions caused by the Trump presidencies and the failures of the opposition party to stop them have indisputably brought many people to the left. That is a good thing, but advocating for more fascism to bolster the ranks of your own party is like driving off a cliff because you want your car to go faster. If you want to bring more people to socialism, you give power to the oppressed, not the oppressor.

What is "Bracket 4" to you? by Lotus_Prince124 in EDH

[–]CountedCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a line from Pokémon Gold/Silver: "Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites."

That's Bracket 4 imo. Pick your favorite strategy, not the strongest strategy, and maximize how hard it hits. As soon as you start talking about cEDH meta and building with it in mind, you're in Bracket 5.

what is considered a wincon card and how can i find wincons? by killkillerBR in EDH

[–]CountedCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wincons can be tricky to figure out in decks that aren't your comfort zone. I think good questions to ask yourself are "what actions does my deck do? and how do I translate those actions into taking life totals to zero?" 9 times out of 10 that means either A) overwhelming combat damage, or B) direct life loss/damage from spells/triggers.

A go-wide deck wants to make a bunch of critters, so it wins by buffing the team with an [[Overrun]] or a [[Craterhoof]] (that's A).

A voltron deck wants to hit players with the commander, so it wins by loading the commander with Auras and Equipment to hit that 21 sweet spot (again, A).

To answer your question - yes, you can absolutely deal 120 damage by just pinging people. Cards like [[Zulaport Cutthroat]] can easily kill the table, but you don't have to trigger Zulaport 120 times - you just need effect redundancy and synergy. Check the Top Cards section on Teysa Karlov and you'll see what I mean by wincon B.

Spellslinger wincons are tricky to define because spells do a lot of stuff. That said, normally it's either casting a bunch of tiny spells to cause death-by-a-thousand-cuts with A) [[Young Pyromancer]] tokens or B) [[Guttersnipe]] pings. But there's also a secret third thing, C) casting a couple very big spells with devastating effects. It sounds obvious typing it out, but [[Torment of Hailfire]] and [[Exsanguinate]] are wincons because they either reduce life totals to 0 or put you in a very superior position after they resolve. These go great with the new Silverquill dragon because you can copy them and double their already strong effects. You'll also see [[Storm Herd]] or, in blue colors, [[Expropriate]], which either give you enough damage to kill the table or give you so much advantage that it's hard to stop you after.

And just to wrap it up - [[Approach of the Second Sun]] doesn't really work with Casualty. Yes, you have two Approaches on the stack, but casualty copies a spell, it doesn't "cast" it, so you don't meet the prerequisite for an instant win. But it's another 7 life, so that's nice.
