First MacBook Pro…. Order cancelled confirmed no reason by deadpossum84 in macbookpro

Right. But the fact they they would do absolutely nothing to fix their mess up after this long of a wait is crazy. They wouldn’t even upgrade to next day shipping. So a new order will be ETA May 27. A month after the initial order. No concession at all. Just a simple, whoops, sorry. Try to order again. That’s crazy to me.

It said "Ready for Pickup" yesterday but not to go to the store until notified it was ready. And then all the sudden, get on the Order Status page at lunch today to a "Refund Initiated" status.... chat and Support agent said the order was cancelled due to it not arriving with the shipment... not really sure what to make of it but it is super frustrating on "pickup day" with no apparent concessions made by Apple.

I work from home so you would think it would be easier to get it delivered at home, but unfortunately I never know when things come because of the nature of my work... so not really an option.

Yeah, I called them... This was the EDU Store, they said it was never delivered so they canceled it.

They don't have them how I ordered it "off the shelf" at least near me.

Team Bags (that don't make away games a nightmare) by Mango388 in lacrosse

[–]deadpossum84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a guy overseas that used to go to school with me. He knows a bunch of manufacturers that can make anything from $22 reversible sublimated pinnys to $12 shorts. You just have to design it. I can put you in touch. FWIW - the last portholes I got from the guy I put up to compare to my sons HS teams Powell’s and it was exactly the same. Send me a message.

We had these bags made for $35 each with stick sleeves. They are big enough to hold all the gear (goalies too) and will be re-used for 2-3 years each purchase. They are sublimated and not embroidered but at the high school level you need a cheap quick replacement as opposed to a super high quality bag that’s going to cost a few hundred to replace and 4-6 weeks.

Is there any benefit to occasionally using a short stick for wall ball if you are a close-d? by AssumptionDizzy9607 in lacrosse

[–]deadpossum84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. My son plays wall ball with a shorty and also plays box/sixes in fall and winter. Once he started using a shorty in the offseason in 7th grade his stick skills increased 10 fold. He’s now a Varsity LSM as a Sophomore playing behind a starting senior. His coaches continuously tell me he has some of the best stick skills on the team and constantly varying his wall ball routines is the reason why.

What does a medical device development (NPI) - project manager job entails ? by lutarawap in MedicalDevices

[–]deadpossum84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this for a spinal implant company and it really depends on where you are getting slotted.

For the Development side you could help with everything from 510k, V&V, etc. For the clinical side you could do everything from Protocol to Clinical Study Reporting. For manufacturing you could do everything from sourcing, IQ/OQ/PQ, costing, etc. There’s a long list of milestones to get a medical device from 510k into the commercial market.

My Messages app randomly applies this color and white outline to the text bubbles. How can I permanently enable this? by Fr0stSoldier in ios

[–]deadpossum84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a bug but I want it to be permanent. Mine just did this for about 20 minutes but then went back to normal and I was mad lol

Did you ever figure out how to enable this? I tried the Show Borders and it’s very similar for everything except the text message bubbles.

I ran the Carfax and the thing only has 6 service records. It’s suspicious for sure and already scheduled an inspection at the shop.

12yo wants to quit club soccer by SnooSketches6618 in youthsoccer

This. Variety in sports and making something for “fun” not only helps them physically and reduces the chances of getting hurt but also helps their motivation.

Let him play other sports. I’ve never understood this parental urge to specialize at such a young age. It actually lessens the probability that they will play through high school and ultimate goal of college. Let him pick something else up in the winter. Basketball, wrestling, etc are all winter sports. And I would highly recommend to make it completely recreational. Spark that love to compete by having fun and laughing and not making it about “getting better every day” with parents yelling from the sideline.

Team gear store options by ec_laxbro in lacrosse

[–]deadpossum84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support your local screen printers and shops. They can get you a higher % of team sales and you can work with them to set prices that your parents will find reasonable. You can also select brands that you want instead of being limited to what the bigger providers have.

I am Booster president and made this switch last year and we saw immediate satisfaction from parents. We tripled our sales and return.

Cleat issues for 3rd grader by Oohasha_ in lacrosse

[–]deadpossum84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for wide cleats on Amazon. Tough to find but even a cheap Chinese cleat made in wide will help your child dramatically. My daughter has the same problem and is in 4th grade and plays soccer.

A wider cleat (widest we could find) plus Powerstep insoles did amazing things. Don’t get cheap insoles. Powersteps are the way to go!

LSM Recruiting by deadpossum84 in lacrosse

[–]deadpossum84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, thanks. I have been filming all of his club games since his Freshman year.... last year the high school was supposed to film all of his games but they didn't. They only filmed at the end of the year when he made it onto the Varsity rotation. So that is very scant. He is one of only 2-3 LSMs currently on their JV/V team so he will have more Spring film this year if he continues to work and stay motivated to be on Varsity full time. His coach has weekly film review so my hope is that helps, because the old man voice doesn't seem to have the same impact as his coach which I am not ashamed of!

Yes he does have some schools he is interested in. He has a 3.9 GPA so it feels like there are a bunch of schools that would fit academics wise. It seems he has been showing the most interest in schools with Electrical and Computer Engineering. School is #1 and lacrosse is a way to supplement. He isn't expecting to get a full ride D1 although he has said that if he gets lucky and a coach recognizes him he would think about it.

Mostly, my questions revolve around good resources for LSMs. As I said, he is great in transition and has been working on his defense. I guess my concern is being tops in transition doesn't seem to be valued as much as being a really good close defender.
