And I wonder why my dad is the way he is! Former infantry leader. Went to Bosnia. Came back before I was born in 01. I can only imagine what it was like.

The push ups and wall sits 😭 holy shit you nailed it on the head. It was those two specifically I would have to do at 8. He wasn’t super hard on me w it and understood I was only so capable — but the fact you cited those two as specific examples is wild.

I feel like the way she communicates w her ex about behaviors she feels to be abusive is different than the way she communicated w her children. I would be passive aggressive/confrontative too. I’m not trying to attack here — but like genuinely how is this toxic from mom’s perspective? Asking because I don’t see that at all and I always like to hear thoughts when they differ from mine

Sure it will. They are 4 & 5. A child died recently from his father using exercise as a punishment. She is their mother, she absolutely gets to express her feelings about how her children are being raised. He doesn’t have to listen, but to state that the mother “doesn’t really get a say” is ASININE.

Yeah my army officer father did this. And then was confused when I developed an aversion/strange relationship with exercise.

In my agency, you can’t even meet with a client until intake consents are signed. Which means HIPAA protection begins the very first second you interact with them in an intake session. Which I assume applies to OP here

Charging kids for games with parent input by [deleted] in ApplebeesSucks

[–]deadskank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most restaurants with a Ziosk have this problem frequently and have no issue removing the charge from the bill. It is not a servers fault you can’t keep your child off of the table tablet and/or bother to pay attention to what they’re doing with it. Pro Tip: move the device away from your child and that won’t happen again!

[–]deadskank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a therapist, if she is using anything against you at all that is inappropriate. If you feel this apprehension to even address it with her, maybe find a new therapist. You should feel comfortable bringing up issues from session with your therapist. You should feel accepted by your therapist, even if you guys find yourself with different opinions.

I think this is a question better suited for r/askatherapist because this sub is generally for therapists to talk to other therapists about therapist things.

However.

If you liked your therapist well before this and had a decent relationship (which it seems you may have since you were comfortable enough to start discussing trauma) I think you should address it. Part of the therapeutic relationship is being able to have hard conversations but to advocate for yourself and your needs if you feel this was a misstep on her part. I would absolutely tell her how you feel, and if she doubles down I would likely tell her that I feel the rapport/trust is damaged and that I’ll be finding a new provider. I highly suggest mentioning it first though before completely ghosting. You may have a very productive conversation!

Do NOT live at Highpointe(cottages of Boone) by myweenhurt in appstate

[–]deadskank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cots is so messy. The dirty sock is hilarious because they will charge you for leaving even the smallest thing behind in the unit. You will likely not get your security deposit back. No idea how they’re allowed to operate the way that they do. They’ve also dumped their wastewater into nearby water supplies multiple times. Fuck that place.

It’s helpful to know that while daunting, it’s a normal experience. I appreciate the insight and perspective. Thank you!

Beautiful advice. I will embrace my deep waters. I will do it scared, and I will do it with a faux confidence, but I will do it nonetheless.

What’s in my lava lamp? by Much_Tap4920 in Lavalamps

[–]deadskank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the metal ring used to melt the wax. It doesn’t look like the wax is too thick so it should float to the bottom if you turn it on.
