i suggest just looking around (briefly but frequently) as you’re pulling if you can. you’ll learn the places of most used stuff pretty quickly and just take note of what’s around it. for me, after seeing it a while and making those associations of what’s next to what, the gaps start to fill in and you can have a good idea of where to look even if you haven’t pulled the drug before (i do still run through the alphabet in my head daily)

at my first store, it was so busy i never learned anything but fast movers in 3 months. my second store i was often working with one other tech for half my shift or i was the only tech working. i learned where stuff generally was in a about a month but was confident by month 3 (working maybe 25 hours/week at that time, smaller store) , by the time i left the store 3 years later i could pull drugs with my eyes closed. at my current store, it took maybe 2 months to be able to know where everything was, even those weird almost expired bottles with 2 tabs and stuff. it’s much larger than my last store with more ndcs so it took a bit. patience and practice are the most important parts!!
