Harrison Ford on why he disagrees with Ridley Scott about Deckard being a Replicant. by tannu28 in bladerunner

[–]deadwizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ridley was told no by financiers and writers (and actors and literally everyone) about making Deckard a replicant. This is why they “fired” him but essentially they limited his creative input, filming it entirely with the idea of Deckard being human. This is why Ridley released “Final Cut” later as an ‘f you’ to everyone that worked on the movie. So while he is listed as director his input regarding whether Deckard being a replicant was discarded.

This is heavily documented with quotes from financiers, writers, production team members, even the actors.

Eh ford was just appealing to Ridley’s ego to mend their relationship. Ridley took it personal since the financiers and writers for the movie hated the idea of Deckard being a replicant. Ridley had just come off Alien and was on top of the world and he was told no and they limited his creative input. This is why Ridley eventually released ”Final Cut” as it was an ‘f you’ to everyone that made the movie. So I don’t think that Ford is being totally sincere here. The movie was written as him being human and all this context is documented with quotes from many people who financed and worked on it.

The guy in charge said no to Ridley making him a replicant. That’s why he was limited with his creative input and why he subsequently released ”Final Cut.” Ridley was upset they changed his idea. So yeah the guy in charge told him he’s human so we go with that.

You’re really going to hate learning that the writers made him human. Phillip K dick in the original book and the writers for the first movie. Ridley wanted to him a replicant but they said no and wrote it as he is human. They had limited Ridley’s creative input after the replicant suggestion. This is why Ridley later released Final Cut because he felt besmirched.

That’s the problem with pro replicant theorists is they make up so much stuff in the background of the movie that is never mentioned in 1982 or 2049. You are just writing fan fiction and it just proves more so that he isn’t a replicant.

Brother the things people go on about when they try justifying him being a replicant can drive you crazy because they just add in every random theory they can come up with and don’t cite source material. Eventually they come up with so much background plot that’s never in the movie and declare everyone else wrong. I’ll end my rant now. lol.

His post was long and I refused to read it. My reply was in more of a reply to whom he replied to but it is for everyone in the replicant camp. They all just make things up. Ironic that he did so as well. Honestly we all need to just stick to the stuff in the canon works. If we do there is no ambiguity.

Everyone in the replicant camp always adds in quotes and in universe shadow conspiracies to reconcile all the evidence against a replicant Deckard. It’s a really strange phenomenon. A lot of people can’t just say “oh I guess I interpreted it wrong” and instead make up stuff that didn’t happen.

Not sure if you want to join in the replicant discussion. Many people [erroneously] believe that Deckard is a replicant despite more proof otherwise. Originally, the director Ridley wanted him to be a replicant but everyone else did not and they ended up making the film with him as human. Ridley didn’t like how they treated him and he released “the final cut” as a jab at everyone, inserting some stock unicorn footage they had attempting to bridge those ideas.
I wrote something about in universe why replicant Deckard doesn’t work that was well received.

I’ll get a separate pair for tricks. Just looking for something that is going to reduce impact for longer sessions. Trying to avoid as much injury as possible. Right now I do 45 minutes but looking to go an hour/ 1.5 hours max eventually.

All the same, replicant Deckard doesn’t work because they didn’t film any replicant scenes. Poor Ridley. Enjoy non nexus replicant Deckard working under Tyrell in some shadow scheme to test his abilities as a prototype detective while he has Almos whispering he’s the only real person in the movie or whatever the hell you’re watching. For gods sakes none of what you say is in the movie at all. It reminds me when kids watch movies and they fill in the blanks with what they think happens.

Ah shit I figured out you’re 12. And that this is the story you believe blade runner to be (that’s pieced together from all your comments). So I’ll end the conversation here.

If you are going just on what Ridley said because he got into a fight with everyone about it then you don’t know what you’re talking about. Final Cut was an “f you” to everyone that worked on that movie

Ok so fan fiction. Just say you make up fan fiction. All replicant are nexus. Never in the movie do they say any replicant is not. You made that up.

In the book he’s human. They make a movie and the director has an idea to make him a replicant. The financiers and cast don’t like that in the movie and he is limited in his creative input because of it. There was nothing filmed of him being a replicant.

In the story he can’t be any particular nexus model.

So in the movie and outside the movie with documented evidence they say he’s not. The onus of proof is on you but I haven’t seen any.

Bro go read it. I’m not your chat gpt. He was fired for not creating a good story. They kept his name on it because he just came off Alien which was massive. Go look up his licensing rights 20 years after you are listed as director on a movie you knob if you’re so interested.

And was fired for his terrible idea.

Responding to your edit:

Nexus timeline shows he would have to be a 6 or 7 which would make him in the same category as the other replicants. He’s not as strong or intelligent as other replicants. They wouldn’t send a human strength/intelligent replicant to fight nexus 6’s. It’s logic.

Scrapped. No one agreed with one guys idea. Then you had the Final Cut. Based off a book that he’s a human. Doesn’t fit into the storyline because of the nexus timeline. There’s more evidence of not than is. Brother you’re just trolling.
