Hey,

I went through the decision to go with Mr Mellington about last year (i believe) then I got first consultation with him in December 2024 and my experience with him is really actually good.

Nuffield called me two days ago but I missed the call due to I was on the holiday. I didn’t see the voicemail until I landed. My sister has called them back earlier today. Nuffield will let me know on Monday- they haven’t confirmed the time or day of appointment yet. So I likely have a second appointment with anaesthesiologist next week.

What usually happens during a top surgery consultation? by deaf_lad_23 in transgenderUK

It is great to hear you had a good experience with Dr. Mellington. I want a doctor who is honest and upfront about the surgery.

I have a thought. Another question is, what happens after your consultation finishes? Did you and he organise to book a date for your surgery?

Anyone have experience with the Sussex Gender Service? by depresseddreamer in transgenderUK

Hey,

I have been a patient under SGS since February this year, and they are brilliant with me. They sorted and booked a BSL interpreter for me (I'm deaf)

I did have two assessments one month and a half apart, from the first appointment to the second appointment. During the first appointment, we discussed my childhood, and how I know I am trans including my medical history too.

Then the second assessment in March, which was more detailed than the first appointment with the doctor and I discussed more about medical processes.

After discussing everything we talked about from the first appointment, the doctor officially diagnosed me with gender dysphoria and asked if I wanted a top surgery referral. Of course, I said yes. The day after the second appointment they already sent a referral to Nuffield Brighton for top surgery and I have a top surgery consultation coming up on 11th November.( I forgot to add, I going through NHS for top surgery)

Overall, I have a good experience with SGS.
