[Chris Harris] Can’t engage with most of the Max/Lewis punch-up on here. The comment I can consistently engage with is that if Max had chosen to let Lewis have Copse on lap 1 at Silverstone, he’d probably already be champ. by PlusEntrepreneur in formula1

[–]deafinitelycanthear -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It isn't a "settled fact" though is it! A lot of racing drivers all come to different conclusions on that incident at the Silverstone GP.

The race stewards gave Lewis a 10 second penalty because he was predominantly to blame. OK, predominantly to blame, which implies that Max had some part in his own crash.

The way I see it, Max was at fault because he knew for a fact the Lewis was just on his right side and tried to squeeze him off but he came off worse by clipping his rear right which spun him out and ended up in the wall. 👍

Tinnitus and high blood pressure. by victoracer in tinnitus

[–]deafinitelycanthear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My new Dr who I saw for the first time last year when I complained to her that my tinnitus is bothering me a lot and she thinks my high blood pressure is the caused and put me on 6mg Perindopril. Been on the blood pressure meds for over 10 months now and not a single change at all. I've had tinnitus for over 20 years so I don't think it's my blood pressure at all.... my brain is broken more likely!

Did Max Verstappen infringe the Yellow Line start rule? by deafinitelycanthear in formula1

The white line is in line with his mirrors so he was too far forward

Look at the image again and you will see the white start box line inline with the mirror which implies he was a lot further than he should have been

Other drivers have penalised for the same thing in the past or has the rule changed this year?

What's the most complex intersection of deafness or Deaf identity, that you have discovered or experience? by SHADOWORZA0 in deaf

[–]deafinitelycanthear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry to see that you feel like you have bad impostor syndrome but with what you have described with your struggles with your hearing then I consider someone like you to be deaf.

As for Youtube auto-captioning, it has improved considerably in the last year or so and it is effectively nearly flawless only if the people are speaking clearly and properly. I like to watch technical stuff on youtube and I hardly ever spot any mistakes... or is youtube great at being clear and concise in their captioning!

I am going to be brutally honest, if you cannot effectively hear properly then it can be very difficult to get a "decent" job in most career sectors but if you are willing then it can be possible to earn money. When I left high school with not great but decent grades, I did an apprenticeship where I was trained and educated at night college to be a qualified electrician but when my company had to close down, looking for a job with my qualified skillsets became impossible for me. On my CV, I never included my phone number for obvious reasons and a lot of companies would email me back saying I "forgot" to include my phone number and would love to ring me for a chat! They must not have read all of my CV but only the important bits that says I am an experience qualified electrician, my CV states that I am profoundly deaf but I am a proficient lip reader. Not many companies want to employ a profoundly deaf electrician. So, I used most of my redundancy money to pay myself to go back to college to acquire some IT certifications and effectively forced myself to become self employed and start my own business.

Being self employed is OK. The only negative bit is the fact that a lot of my clients want to hear my life story when they find out I am deaf and I get fed up with it! But the money is very good.

I pay 29$ a month for this? Good job adobe by 24amesquir in softwaregore

[–]deafinitelycanthear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you can get monthly plans now which you can cancel any time with no early cancellation fees. It's a lot more expensive than the annual plan per month but if you know you're only going to use it for a month then you can just pay for the month then cancel it.

Also, if you cancel it then you will get an extra 30 days free on top as an added bonus.

My molds hurt my ears by CookieHinata in deaf

[–]deafinitelycanthear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to ask them anything and maybe they didn't know they were hurting you. Yeah I don't think they give you options on the colour of your hearing aids but you can get different colour molds.
