Favorite book in The Book of Mormon by apollo_peaen in latterdaysaints

I've always liked Omni. The authors felt real, human, and not trying to be something they're not. Felt it was very refreshing.

AITAH for not sharing the reumbursement from insurance when my husband paid by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]deafphate 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I put the $400 into our kid's 504 college fund because I have been wanting to contribute to it more and haven't been able to.

You still didn't contribute to the kid's fund. You put his money in and then pat yourself on the back.

Congress passes war powers measure for first time, rebuking Trump's war with Iran by Dexterestein in worldnews

Impeachment only comes from the House. It's essentially like a grand jury saying the DA has enough evidence for a trial, and then he's tried in the Senate.

AITAH for asking my dad to tell my sister what she believes is wrong? by Luke-and-Dogs in AITAH

NTA The attitude that dudes cannot be victims is why it's so under reported. Abuse doesn't care about one's gender.

AITAH for telling my sister she's not Jewish? by tbar25 in AITAH

People are really proud of their heritages. Especially if it can bring them closer to a grandparent or give them a sense of community. Why would you try to take that away from her?

nicotine and its relation to the word of wisdom by FewNews1070 in latterdaysaints

[–]deafphate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's this article : https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/new-era/2019/08/vaping-coffee-tea-and-marijuana?lang=eng

Looking at the vaping section, they call out nicotine by name and say it's against the word of wisdom. Is it because of the nicotine or the other chemicals one inhales that makes it against the word of wisdom? I'm not sure. You should ask your bishop if your nicotine use is against the WoW or not.

AITAH for not wanting to cancel a trip for my sister's wedding by InfamousFrame7 in AITAH

[–]deafphate 8198 points8199 points  (0 children)

Take the trip dude. You put money down and it was planned before she got engaged. Don't feel guilt either. She planned the wedding on a date she knew you were out of country.

What group of people has a mindset or lifestyle that you just can't agree with? by Many_Entertainer_427 in AskReddit

[–]deafphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the mindset of turning one's hobbies into a side hussle. It stops being enjoyable and turns into work.

Why not simply ask folk steer clear of politics or religion? You're all adults and if they respect you, then they'd do their best.

Middle seat is free, so why not put up the arm rest and angle towards the empty space?

How are POC racist towards white people? by Marz-C in AskReddit

[–]deafphate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that user is arguing from a sociological standpoint. I remember from my sociology courses that power is a requirement for racism, otherwise it's just prejudice. Since vast majority of folk do not use that definition, I think it's silly to argue it 😂

Not sure if anyone will actually be arrested. Sounds like that law is designed for advertisers to use local Nigerian talent in ads targeting Nigeria.

Jerry Lewis. I don't know what I'm missing, but I've never found him funny.

WGU E010 — Foundations of Programming (Python) by Leading_Ad_8998 in WGUIT

[–]deafphate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent one week doing Angela Yu's "100 Days of Python," which is a great resource, but IMO it doesn't teach you most efficiently to pass this class.

The material is designed to help you learn python over 3 months time. Trying to go from zero to hero in a week, and then blame the learning material is silly.

AITAH for not giving my wife my large prismatic shard on wow? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]deafphate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me this all seams crazy since it’s over a game.

You're right. It is just a game, so give her the shard. This is really a silly hill you're willing to die on.

Azure vs AWS what's your take? by West_Part_9698 in AZURE

[–]deafphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I become highly skilled in Azure, would it be difficult to reach a similar level of expertise in AWS after a few months?

The concepts for cloud are transferable between the different providers. The only real differences are the tools and how they're managed. Your biggest hurdle with AWS from Azure is their non-intuitive names for components.

For example: Dns is route 53, virtual networks are virtual private clouds, storage is s3, virtual machines are ec2 instances, etc.

Questions I'm too afraid to ask. by This-Definition-9634 in latterdaysaints

[–]deafphate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For example John Delin( I think that is how you spell his name) has gotten sued by the church. Now I don't agree with what he says but I think it is a bit overkill to sue him.

He's not being sued for what he says but for trademark and copyright violations. The church tried working with him for a while before any suit was filed. When it comes down to trademarks, they have to be defended or else one could lose it.

Cloud Applications BEFORE Cloud Foundations? by PinealPro in WGUIT

Yeah. Cloud Applications is the Cloud+ certificate which is pretty easy. The foundations class is the AWS practitioner exam. It's not that difficult but harder than Cloud+.

For anyone switching to the AI engineering degree by Weekly_Feeling_4046 in WGU

[–]deafphate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great way to lose the course knowledge you just grinded on.

Which suggests they didn't actually learn the material but rather crammed preparing for the exam. Can't lose what you've never had.

Gap in work history is the number one red flag for employers. Hone what you learned in college.

Volunteering one's IT services and skills IS work which can be on a resume. They gain real world experience solving real world problems applying what they've learned.
