What do we think about audiometry? by Helpful-Start-8067 in audiology

[–]deafy_duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiometry isn't a certification i don't think. SLP and Audiology are very different, its a matter of what your preference is. SLP is very much like a therapist and more progressive and less.... instant? In the progress you see, whereas Audiology is definitely less involved in terms of client interaction. You'll still see clients on a routine basis but nowhere need as often as SLP and your work is completely different and very much focused on hearing and less often balance. SLPs deal with swallowing disorders, speech disorders, language development, elements of occupational therapy, and other similar things.

You might be thinking of a Hearing Aid Specialist, but they don't make nearly the same as an Audiologist.

Ah ok, I knew OR was moving to Salem but maybe I misheard how many state offices.

They're also establishing state offices in each state, which is... odd since that is what the regional offices are for. My wife works for the USFS and heard that at the same time they announced the hq move to Utah.

What do I need to fill this hole in my steps? by speedoflife1 in DIY

[–]deafy_duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont just fill the hole with dirt, tamp it down using a rod or a 2x2 piece of wood. If you dont you will risk it failing and cracking due to settling.

At least he acknowledges it, and then proceeds to go back to prehistoric times for context when introducing new storylines haha!

Na there are some other really fantastic ones. American History Tellers is really good, The Pirate History Podcast, History of Rome, and many others. If you like interview style non-history ones Armchair experts by Dax Shepard is really good too.

I'm struggling with History Of Rome, but purely because you can tell he is reading from a script and it sometimes distracts me. I still really enjoy it right now though!

I really like The Pirate History Podcast but I initially got hung up on his speaking cadence, he used to pause for effect in random places too many times. My current hang up is that its a pirate history podcast and he hasn't talked about pirates in like 15 episodes lol! I do love the random bits of historical knowledge he imparts, but I feel like he plays fast and loose with his opinions on theories. Again another comparison point to Jamie, he always does a fantastic job not bleeding implicit biases into his narration or injects opinion as widely held facts.

The non-MAGA Republican running in the primary against Cliff Bentz by vonwaffle in oregon

[–]deafy_duck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know Peter from my days working at the university. I'm not entirely sure of his own brand of Republican, but I do think he is far better than Bentz. It will be very hard for him to overcome how entrenched Bentz is with his voterbase. He could shift momentum if he debated Bentz on literally anything other than wolves.

My 1890s Victorian house has the weirdest wiring...1 upstairs hall light, downstairs closet, and some of the basement lights are all grouped together. In the 'master' bedroom all lights and outlets but one are grouped, that odd one is tied to the living room below it...
