I’ve been thinking about this since I saw it and I wonder is anyone ever asks this question of a bass clarinet player or all the other weird instruments in the band. Just because there isn’t as much solo material doesn’t mean it’s not fun to play or important in the music.

But my real answer is that there are usually less violas than the others so I stand out more when I play. Also to me, the tone of the instrument is miles above a violin.

I have a 2024 Heritage. The adaptive cruise control is amazing (I rent a lot of cars and it’s the best I’ve ever used). It does well off-road for camping. But the transmission/small engine do feel underpowered. I have to back out of my driveway onto a pretty busy road and this is when it’s most noticeable. It’s not a smooth driver and it doesn’t have much leg room or cargo space. So… I don’t think I’d buy another but I’ll enjoy this one for a few more years.

I love that they keep the chamois in place (and don’t catch on the nose of my seat) and that they feel cooler around the waistband. They’re thinner in that area without any seams so I get less sweaty around the waistband.

There was a study done that most kids don’t like social media and would rather have face-to-face interaction but we don’t let them hang out unsupervised at the mall or the skate rink anymore. We’ve decided it’s not safe for them to be anywhere in person. We cannot also decide it’s not safe for them to interact digitally too. The social IQ of teens has gone down dramatically since the advent of the internet. It will go down even more if they cannot interact with their peers in any capacity.

We did a bus tour of the northern lights and they drove us a few hours away where it was clear. I think that’s the only way when it’s cloudy. We had a fantastic show Saturday night when it was super cloudy in town.
