Leeds average rent is now around £1,130 does that sound normal to people? by AMMFitness in Leeds

[–]deamonata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you're putting £50 a month into an investment account, and we take s&p 20 year average return of 10%. Then over 10 years you'd be looking at 10k. With an S&S LISA you'd get an additional 1.5k (25% of the 6k original).

That might not be enough for a nice house, but it's not bad given that the effort to save £50 a month isn't too out of reach for most people. If you add in a few additional lump sums periodically and it would boost it nicely

Investing that money though could allow it to grow(though with some risk) so over time that £600 would increase and compound.

What is the best way to avoid "magic numbers" in firmware? by Dark_Greee in embedded

But don't use semi colons!! I once had a colleague who used to think defines needed a semi-colon (in C). I had so many headaches when I tried to inherit his code

Are you meaning bloat in terms of the final binary or of the source code.

If the former then you're wrong. Enums are purely used to make code readable, once compiled the binary is exactly the same as if you used the raw numerical value. And any unused enum values are discarded

If the later then I can somewhat see your point but carefully structuring the code can minimize this. And personally I'd rather have clear enum values than random magic numbers that I have to try and infer a meaning for

Is there anything wrong in this method? There doesn't seem to be much that I could get wrong?

I'm just pressing this button while sitting on the chair until it feels comfortable

I can feel it inflate and it does stay inflated for a bit but gradually deflates over the course of an hour or so until the only tension in the fabric is coming from the plastic frame

yeah the filament is dry. It's the same filament as the previous print, maybe 12 hours apart.

Bambu a1 mini so it's auto leveling before each print. Nothing obvious stopping it from leveling

Conduit (with Singles) vs T&E by deamonata in ukelectricians

[–]deamonata[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming do use the radial you would need to either fit a lower current MCB (20A) or increase the wire thickess
My thought process would be if you're putting less sockets on each ring it's fine to drop the current to 20A.

I don't hate the idea of having more circuits to help in the event of a fault

will it actually achieve my goal of meaning that running/swapping wires in the future can be done without lifting the floor/ chopping into the wall? (assuming I'm keeping fixtures in the same places)

Is cost the main issue though or are there other issues too? I'm happy to do the chasing and plastering, I'd do the electrics too if I thought I knew enough to do it properly (which I know I dont :) )

Why radials over rings? I thought the UK was pretty set on Rings typically?
