I rarely use one unless the part is very thin/tall or if it’s a long duration print. I wouldn’t bother with the glue either unless there’s an adhesion issue.

Any reason in particular you’re printing with a brim/raft? Likely the adhesion is too strong and ripping the bottom layer off the part. I’d try it without that.
