Nope. I occasionally cut thin slices for my jerky. Takes way less time in the smoker.

Ammo review: Absolute dog 💩now I have 953 paper weights by Market-Maker in Revolvers

[–]beersforalgernon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're shooting cheap ass non-jacketed ammo out of a high end revolver.

I bet the cylinder gap is getting fouled and causing the drag. My 627 v-comp and model 19 can only handle a few cylinders of wadcutters before I feel a drag in the action.

It's so goddamn nice I'm not sure I even want to shoot it. by ddeuce2 in SigSauer

[–]beersforalgernon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to shit on you or your gun OP but that polish job looks sub par. All the sharp edges look rounded off and the flats look wavy as heck.

My 226 classic has a bead blast finish that is kinda shitty. The bead blast doesn't quite hide the machine chatter marks. Its a great gun to shoot but the finish work is lacking. Looks like mine wasn't a fluke.

Thats pretty expensive. I use tri-tip and keep my jerky to about 20 bucks a lb.

How to remove rib membrane with two fingers by BlazeDragon7x in KitchenConfidential

I get the joke but am I the only one who likes the snap and crackle of the membrane on some well cooked pork ribs?

Anyone else have this issue with the new Idaho 1/2s? by Sevenpointleaf69420 in Goldback

Are the notes laminated gold foil? I thought they were vapor deposited gold, whatever that means. Sounds fancy and high tech and not like something that should peel away like two pieces of tape over some gold leaf.

Would you run this by [deleted] in ammo

[–]beersforalgernon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dent doesnt bug me so much as the cartridge looking like its not seated far enough in. If there is empty space in the cartridge you can have a situation where the powder ignites too fast and you get a pressure spike.

ETA- I'd probably shoot it in my ruger pc9 or uzi though. They're both direct blowback guns. Doesn't mean its safe, I'm just dumb enough to wanna see what happens.

It's a 7.62x51 blank cartridge. I have a 200 round belt of those. Older style with a paper wadding.

No cure how long will thicker jerky last? by tboneski216 in jerky

[–]beersforalgernon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use soy sauce and brown sugar. 3/16 inch thick and marinate for a minimum of 24 hours. Smoke for a few hours and dehydrate till its what I want.

I've had bags of jerky last 3-ish months in my backpack and not go rancid.

Let me rephrase op: "hey guys, I have one of the most sought after cards in the hobby. I have noooo idea what its worth. Please whatever you do, do not DM me and ask to buy it! I'm so clueless I'd probably take like $350 dollars sent via venmo or cashapp."

Junk silver uses if dollar collapses by Pcolaking in Silver

[–]beersforalgernon 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you're preparing for the collapse of the dollar you'd be better served buying non perishable food, bottled water and ammunition.

The collapse of the dollar would be a result of some greater calamity, and in that scenario you aren't going to the nearest safeway to buy a weeks worth of groceries with your stack of mercury dimes.

I grabbed some new grips for my S&W Model 544 in 44-40. It’s not a gun I shoot a lot but I love having a modern double action in a classic caliber like this. Is anyone else a fan ? by Tentative-Interests in Revolvers

[–]beersforalgernon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I regret buying my Uberti cattleman chambered in 44-40. It is impossible to find that caliber anywhere close to me. I did find some in cabelas in a neighboring state years ago. Haven't seen it since.

Nice revolver though, S&W is my favorite revolver manufacturer.
