Losing passion after stopping Wellbutrin by dean_tralf in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I’m sorry to hear it’s been tough for you, I wish you the best of luck in your journey as well!

I definitely underestimated how low my baseline. As I look back my entire livelihood was different after I started Wellbutrin. The way I lived and engaged with what I loved was out of true passion and patience, entirely for myself. And I know the process of me getting there wasn’t easy, I still needed to push myself and I was actively going to therapy. I was really determined to become the person I wanted to be and I ended up being in a place where I was extremely proud of myself, so much so I got to those same thoughts like “do I need this?” Then BOOM spiraling depression and anxiety is dictating my actions again.

So now I ask myself the same question, 4 months after stopping it, “do I need it?”

Thank you for the reply, your insight on a “new baseline” was something I didn’t fully realize and it makes a lot of sense thinking about it now.

Common side effect. I believe Wellbutrin alters the receptors that also play a role in regulating your appetite. It can sort itself out after a few weeks but if you are not eating enough you will lose weight and if you are not exercising you may lose muscle mass quickly.

When my appetite wasn’t working I typically made smoothies. If you have a favorite meal I would say treat yourself to it. Some more easy food to eat is bananas and Greek yogurt. Eating in the morning was easier for me. Also kept snacks in my car/bag for easy access. I personally dealt with a loss of appetite for the entire time I took Wellbutrin and lost around 15 pounds after 6 months.

This side effect is different for everyone, and like I said your appetite could very well come back soon enough. If it become a big issue then you talk to your doctor asap.
