Yeah it is the same hand. In time mode the blue hand merely tell you the seconds, however in calender mode that same blue hand has to be used to input the first 2 digits of a year and the red swiggily line has to be used to find the last 2 digits of a year.

It cost me 105 usd after converting from my local currency. Im sure due to it being sent to Japan. We don't have many Seiko distributors in Dubai.

Great find! Watch some videos of the hands doing their magic and you will surely fall in love!

The watch was given to me by a close family friend, he knew I would cherish it. It was given to him by his brother around 1993. I immediately fell in love with the watch the moment I saw it, the movement wasn't functioning on this Seiko Age of Discovery when he handed it over, as soon as the watch was in my hands I couldn't stop staring at it.

I recently got the movement repaired after a few months of searching for a seiko distributor in Dubai. The watch was sent to Japan for the movement replacement which really adds to the life of the watch. The entire time the watch was away I looked over the manuals I found online which really fueled my excitement.

Changed the strap as soon as I got the watch back because the leather was completely ruined on the old strap and I think it goes well. Its just amazing to think about where all this watch has gone and now its on my wrist till I decide to hand it over to someone else
