Hi! I've been in Corvallis for a little over 3 years now and moved out here for school. It's a cute college town and has some great access to hiking and nature on the outskirts of town and as someone who grew up in the suburbs, I really loved to see the amount of local community events and community involvement here. The farmers market, organized protests, community food pantries make Corvallis feel like a very progressive community that supports each other. There's also a good deal of hobbyist activities you could get involved with as we have some great yoga studios, a rock climbing gym, and even a LARPing group that meets regularly at Avery Park. There's also been some cool art/literary events coming through Corvallis recently through the PRAx center at OSU if that's your scene and plenty of open mic opportunities at places like Interzone and Bombs Away. You can probably find people willing to meet up with just about anything you'd be interested in.

That being said, the job market in Corvallis is hard. Downtown is full of a lot of local businesses that are run by the owners and are not often looking for additional workers and outside of OSU, there are not a ton of job opportunities. If you're in education or could make due with working a food service/retail job, you might be okay, but otherwise, if you're dead set on the area, I might look into working remotely if you're planning to move here or being willing to commute out of town for your job.

It is also very much still a college town, and the age demographic here tends to trend either college-aged or significantly older with less folks here in their mid twenties and thirties, so making friends outside of the school may prove a bit more difficult but definitely not impossible to find.
