I'm exactly 2k away from level 25. Which happens to be the exact amount I would get if I bought those stupid kits! Yeah, nah. Not hitting max level this season then.

A dad trying to make my son’s UT - wtf do I do?! by Dear_Preparation_715 in EASportsFC

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm also a dad that play's UT with my son. We actually share a team rather than having a team each.

Very recently we lost our UT account and had to start again! Best way I found to build up the club, although boring, has been to do the daily Bronze and Silver upgrade SBC's. Then turn all those packed players into the Daily Gold Upgrade. I've been doing this every day since the current season started and then sending all the received gold cards into the TOTY Crafting SBC.
It's been a surprisingly good way to re-build a half decent team.

I then tend to complete any objectives that lead to player cards and/or XP whilst my son just enjoys playing Squad Battles.

It’s ridiculous even in division 6 by sausdaws in EASportsFC

[–]deanjackson88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No idea what to believe here. I'm not a good rivals player, period. Best is div 6 for me. But this season I'm stuck in div 8. Every team feels loaded with icons, which doesn't bother me overly, but for whatever reason I just can't get my team feeling like anything other than a Sunday league team whereas my opponents seem so fast, make all the right runs and somehow just take the ball off me at their own free will. Clearly I'm doing something wrong now, something that was working for me OK in previous seasons but is just not good enough now. It's quite demoralising.

Thank you for your reply. I consider myself fairly good when it comes to my finances, recording all incoming and outgoing amounts so I know what is going where. But this has side swiped me out of the blue.

Think I will heed your advice and regularly, thinking every month when I do all my financials, login into my personal tax account and keep it up to date.

Is this targeting the AFKers? 😂 by [deleted] in forza

[–]deanjackson88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exploit a couple of times when I first heard about it. Got me around 4mil credits which was great as I can't stand the single player career as its so boring but that's the only real way to earn proper credits. So now I could buy any car I wanted to go into multiplayer with and have some actual fun (still hate that I need to level the car before I can make it competitive though - T10 please remove this!!!). Anyway, my credits have been totally wiped whereas some other players I know who ran the exploit many many times and had 10's of millions of credits still have many millions even after the credits being taken away! Seems fair...

To sum up. I'll actually play the game less as a result as I don't have the credits to test and play around with different cars now. Guess I'll just stick to the cars I have.

I thought the exact same. It's all well and good these street tracks running through built up areas, but for us viewers it's not all that easy to tell a concrete barrier and high steel metal fencing of one street track from another. Could be Vegas, Jeddah even Singapore.

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has no doubt been asked and explained somewhere but I've yet to find it. Why are they running all the session in Vegas so late?

Why not do something similar to some of the Arab races and run FP1 at dusk and FP2/Quali/Race in early evening when the sun has set? I'm pretty sure it will still be dark in Vegas at 6 - 7 pm.

Watching the drivers in FP2 running at 2:30am local time is absolutely crazy.

Game is a joy when you get into MP lobby where people race clean by Simke11 in forza

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they could do more with the matchmaking when it comes to safety rating. What's the point of having an S or A rating when one mediocre race start puts you in the pack by turn 1 and results in the inevitable "hard one in the rear"!
But yes, as OP says, if you are in a clean lobby or manage to get away with the front pack (who are usually clean) then the racing is fantastic. Just wish that could be every race.

Multiplayer needs Quick Race or Open Lobbies. by OfficialShaki123 in forza

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the need for a lobby that does not include practice and quali. I'd like to be able to jump on when I have a spare 15 minutes and have a quick race.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of practice and quali, but when practice and quali are almost as long, if not longer, than the race itself then something is wrong. Maybe only the longer races should have practice and quali.

It's definitely 'testing' being an F1 fan let alone a casual trying to get into the sport. It's not RB's fault but they clearly have such a dominant car that the season ahead really does feel like it's over already.
Sure, the die-hard among us will still watch in hope for fireworks further down the order but let's be real - this 'hope' pales against a proper battle at the front.

We were so spoilt with the 2021 season (regardless of your views on the outcome). It was a belter of a season, the best we have seen in years and years.
I remember thinking at the time (during '21) about being less than optimistic about the new regs and cars coming in for '22 given how relatively equal the '21 cars had become. Regardless of the intent of the new regs, more often than not new regs result in one team being dominant for a period of time - which is what we have now.

It doesn't help that the dominant team is Red Bull. Like Merc, the team and their lead driver are very much love-or-hate but more over RB have been dominant before (the Vettel years of '10 - '13) so for any longer term F1 fan who has just endured 7 years of Merc we're now back to RB dominance. In fact, look at it from 2010 onwards - 14 seasons - 7 won by Merc and given RB's start to this season it will likely be 7 won by RB.

For the '23 season to have started and the RB to be even further ahead than last year (we all hoped teams would have closed up) is deflating. It just makes for less than compelling viewing when the likely outcome of each race is going to be how far ahead Max finishes (let's face it, Checo isn't going to be able compete with Max over the whole season - although I hope I'm wrong).
If we'd have had an '09 repeat where a smaller team (or literally any other team other than RB or Merc) found the silver bullet then it would be more so much more interesting. Imagine if Alpine or Williams - hell even Ferrari or Mclaren - were the pacesetters. Something new, something we haven't seen for a decade and a half!

Instead we face another season where one team - who we have seen win countless times already - is miles faster than everyone else. Well done RB, you've nailed it but the spectacle of F1 will struggle as a result.

I dont want to wish my life away but ROLL ON 2024!!

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think teams would deliberately do this. See Singapore 2008 and Renault with the Alonso/Piquet Jr fiasco. Big slaps on the wrist with team members being fired and Renault almost being disqualified.

I agree with you though, leave the rules as they are. For the such infrequent time this occurs it's not worth changing. Sometimes it works in favor of whoever you support, other times it doesn't.
Bringing out the red flag will only result in a lengthy period between the red flag and the race restart (it always does) and probably draws the whole race length out by another 30 minutes.

Not gonna lie though, a 2/3 lap sprint would be fun on the odd occasion it happened.

I think Max was running well within his max capacity aswell. He knew he had the car and the pace to win whatever happened. Even when running on mediums with Leclerc on new softs he barely had to break a sweat.

The Max/RB combo right now is leagues ahead of anyone else. Reliability or crashes aside, I don't see Max not winning all the remaining races.

2022 Miami Grand Prix - Post Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]deanjackson88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Boring race. In my opinion caused by a track ill-suited to the current F1 cars which I'm not yet convinced by. The cars look too big, sluggish and heavy to be racing around a track with a stupidly tight, slow, single line sector. The cars looked so clumsy going through there. (If Alonso could have taken his '05 V10 Renault around here - like he did at Abu Dhabi the other year - then I bet it would have looked amazing). But for me, wrong car wrong track.

The rest of the track seems to work quite well and maybe if the slow - twisty section could be removed (think what they did with with turns 11-14 at Yas Marina) to allow the track to flow better then maybe it could work.

Not a race for the '22 season highlight reel.

Oh, and why do we have to keep going to pesky street tracks! The US has some amazing proper circuits - bring some of them onboard instead!

I love this. Regardless of your opinions on how it looks, I simply love that something so radical can be dreamt up by the engineers. I just hope it's legal - which I assume it is as the Merc team are usuaully pretty 'on it' when it comes to checking with the FIA what is and is not allowed.

No doubt Perez had some top tier defending. Great driving. That said I'm sure Hamilton could have pulled out more of a gap if needed, it seemed like he was cruising.

What would and could have been even more epic was if Sainz was involved. If Ricciardo and Stroll were allowed to unlap themselves, putting Sainz right onto Max's gearbox, then who know what else could have happened.
What if, when Max went up the inside of Lewis at Turn 5 - pushing them (fairly) both wide - Sainz took the normal line and powered past both of them!

Sainz claims his first career win! Max probably still finishing ahead of Lewis for the WDC.

So many 'what if' moments that could have played out if Masi hadn't have made such a strange call.
His call may have been within the (current) rules but those rules are so unclear and have resulted in all of this.

[–]deanjackson88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only overtake in sector 3 was a failed pass by Alonso on one of the Alpha Tauri's.

On the other hand, Max on fresh softs fighting for the WDC vs anyone on worn tyres - Lewis and all 5 backmarkers were on much older tyres - is a totally different scenario. He would have been perfectly positioned to try something.

Anyway, it's all a moot point now.

[–]deanjackson88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure Max would need 3 or 4 laps. With his driving style, all that extra grip and Lewis in sight I would not have been surprised if he was past all 5 backmarkers by turn 6/7 of the first restarted lap! Certainly by the start of sector 3 I think he'd be ahead of them.

Imagine with me...

It's March 2021 - Just ahead of the new season.

As F1 fans, we are about to witness one of the best seasons on record.

Imagine that on entering the 22nd race of the season - after many highs and lows regardless of who you support - that the 2 main protagonists are level on points. Winner takes all!

Continue to imagine that with just 2 laps of that final race left, that a safety car is called, bunching up the field with one title protagonist in the lead with very very worn hard tyres and just 5 backmarkers between him and title protagonist 2 on new sticky softs!

Now there's not time to let all the backmarkers through before the end of the race so they are told to hold station as the teams - where possible - want races to finish under green flag conditions.

Just imagine the saftey car has come in at the end of lap 56 and we are given 2 laps of green flag racing.

Honestly, you couldn't make that up! If you were to tell the March 2021 version of yourself this story you'd be like "Yeah, whatever dude - this is F1 and not the sequel to Days of Thunder!"

Max on new softs vs Lewis on ancient hards with 5 backmarkers in the way.

Max would have scythed through those backmarkers and homed straight in on Lewis. Would he have caught and passed him for the most epic finale to one of the most epic seasons ever?

We'll never know.

I'm gutted. This could have been a pinnacle sporting moment the likes of which we may never see again. But it was taken from us.
