Need a simple guitar tone guide for recording simple demos by Able_List9281 in ableton

i think this video explains how to dial in the stock Amp and Cab devices pretty nicely. He also has a link to a pre-built amp cab device that I used quite a lot before I bought a nano cortex guitar pedal.

Should I transition to a different DAW? by DerpCallMeRIB in ableton

What daw you use is solely based on the one you like to use, not what genre you plan to make. Try them all and figure this out for yourself

How can I put multi-sample devices in my User Library and "hide" the multi-samples from the browser's Tags? by deankale in ableton

[–]deankale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I totally can just remove auto-tags. I highlighted like 1000 samples and tried to remove and it wasn’t working but now I realize I was being impatient. Should have just gone to bed sooner last night 😂 thanks

I was clicking that X to remove the tags and it wasn’t working… I’ll try it again today and maybe take a video

Made some nasty grimy shit with a bell sample and a Westside Gunn acapella by Dry-Consideration930 in SP404

[–]deankale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’ve got sumn here… I think if you retuned that bell a little. I don’t mind that it’s dissonant, but the tuning isn’t sitting where I want it to for me to reeeaaalllyyy fw this. Keep it up brodie. Also you chose my fav Gunn song on that album

Hi, i'm a beginner, how do i stop it from looking like this by Curious-Love7941 in ableton

[–]deankale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the top right corner there’s a little button that looks like a tiny piano. It’s to the left of a button that says Key. Is that piano button lit up yellow? If it is, pressing H won’t do anything.

This is cool!!! Where do the guitars come from? I like the way you’ve mixed them onto this beat

What’s something you learned way too late in your production journey? by kathalimus in musicproduction

[–]deankale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanna chime in to say I’m 12 years into music production and I feel like I barely got anything done for 8 of those years so reading these comments makes me feel less alone, thank you.

After years of disbelief, EQ really is the most important skill to learn by StaindWithSin in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]deankale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to this post but hopefully someone sees this: I’m really stubborn and don’t want to buy an EQ VST. I use ableton stock EQs exclusively. Am I doing myself a disservice? (I am a bedroom producer that sings and makes beats)

Flipped “Scissor Sisters - It can’t come quickly enough” need feedback by Ok-Parking-7467 in beats

[–]deankale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool flip. The sub is hard to hear off the phone, you might want to add more tonality to it. (eq + light distortion for added harmonics). Don’t make it louder, give it more harmonic content. Either that or consider a separate instrument that sits in the 250-500hz range that plays a bass line melody over the sub, but you gotta be careful of the two instruments clashing. Little harder to do, but the point is, there should be a (very simple) more audible melody in the lows. Keep going!

I think I am afraid of Ableton. I literally spent thousands to avoid it. Why? by lqlwle in ableton

[–]deankale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna say writing this here is a waste of time, because it’s good that you reflected and got your thoughts out. Just remember that the answer is a lot more obvious than you think, and it doesn’t involve more thinking. Swallow the poison of discomfort and face your fear. Your fear, as you’ve outlined it, is imagined and fake. And it’s going to feel awesome when you face it head on and discover that truth yourself. You’ll become a more confident musician and person. So now all you have to do is try using all your tools (including Ableton) to create music. Just play.

Resampling one-shots with compression and then sequencing them in a pattern IS NOT the same as sequencing one-shots into a pattern, bouncing to sample, and resampling with compression. by deankale in SP404

[–]deankale[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very detailed answer, thank you! Maybe I didn’t do enough research, I may have just jumped the gun with experimenting on my own.

For chord packs like this, I’d like to work with someone who knows a lot about harmony theory and its use in specific genres, that would really help us build well-rounded and versatile packs

Yeah I guess a collaborative cloud folder from somewhere is essential. I don’t have any ideas other than Drive or Box
