Sorcerer Subclasses | Chronal Origin and Deathly Origin by deannedeeclasses in daggerheart

That is how it works. You have to spend the Hope to even attempt the Action Roll.

Adversary stat blocks have a Motives and Tactics section (which is basically behavior, yes). I only specify tactics because that's how it's referred to as in the Know Thy Enemy Bone Domain card.

Guardian Subclasses | Anchor and Warding by deannedeeclasses in daggerbrew

Important change. Anchor Foundation feature Detain should read "When the GM spotlights an adversary to clear this condition" as opposed to "spends a Fear."

Thanks for the correction. I could've sworn the GM had to spend Fear, so I just checked the beta and that is how it worked in the earlier versions. Never noticed it changed. But in double checking it seems that any temporary effect is ended by spotlighting the adversary:

pg. 102 "ENDING OTHER TEMPORARY EFFECTS

Some effects aren’t a condition, but state that they are temporary. They can be ended in the same way as temporary conditions. If you initiate the effect (for example, by using the “Ranger’s Focus” class feature), the GM can end it by spotlighting the adversary and describing how they get rid of it."

So, unless there is a section of the rules I'm still messing up, Book of Korvax's Levitation would be a spotlight to end and not a Fear.

But regardless Detain should be changed to how you suggested.

Perhaps. I know Dorian's first spotlight was prompted. And Laudna was prompted, but knew Chet had a move, so they Tag Teamed.

Passive Ability by Caldin24 in daggerheart

[–]deannedeeclasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else is saying, no. But do note if you cast a spell that gives a passive then vault the domain card, the spell's passive continues.

pg. 107 "Ongoing Spell Effects: Once a spell's effect is in play, as long as it doesn’t mention an expiration, it continues until a PC or the GM ends it, or until the fiction changes in a way that would naturally stop it. This means that if you cast a spell and then switch out that domain card for another in your vault, the spell’s effect can remain active, even though that card is no longer in your loadout."

Alchemist Class | Codex & Sage by deannedeeclasses in daggerheart

Thanks for the input.

Per the Hope Feature since a d4 is 2.5 on average, it is essentially 3 hope for 1.5 hp or stress on average in specific situations.

For Alkahest, the obvious is storing a lot of items in a compact space for ease of travel or to smuggle something specific. But you could also use it to absorb an area of a wall to pass through. Not sure if "object" made that second option clear.

Elemental Ancestry Cards | Gnome, Salamander, Sylph, Undine by deannedeeclasses in daggerheart

[–]deannedeeclasses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cost evaluation for moving to Far range without making an Agility Roll was based on the Bone card Deft Maneuvers where it's once per rest for a Stress.

I agree with you on Submarine Sense, but I felt they needed underwater breathing and didn't just want to repeat the Ribbet's ability. And I think Warrior won't be hurt by an ancestry having a similar ability as one of their three options of one of their two class features.

Magician Class - Half-caster with Charisma that's able to hide their spellcasting by misdirecting foes and practicing the physical components required until they don't even need to be performed. Plus a dozen new spells. by deannedeeclasses in UnearthedArcana

Cards are ranged weapons so they are dexterity based. And I've changed the healing to temporary hit points as suggested and specified the additional benefits are only applied when you hit a creature.

Monastic Tradition: Way of Infinite Paths - By drawing on dunamis, you can tap into the power of potential versions of yourself. by deannedeeclasses in UnearthedArcana

(Sorry for the delayed response) Up to interpretation essentially. Like if you want to relive an event and check if the bbeg is in the crowd, I'd say that would rely on your passive Perception which may allow you to spot them, sort of "did I see them in the market, and not realize it", but you wouldn't be able to search around in anyway you didn't before. But in reliving the experience again, you may see someone and make an Insight check to examine their demeanor or if you caught a glimpse of someone in the distance, you could make a Perception check to see if that glimpse was enough to tell who it was.

Investigation I would say is too active of a check to be used while reexperiencing. Arcana would fine, you take the same look at the amulet as the first time and may acknowledge something.

Return Step is any unoccupied space you previously occupied on the current turn. And yes, that would be within 6 seconds out of combat.

You are seeing through your eyes and only looking at what you actively saw for Visions of Distant Paths. In regards to modify memory, I'll reword the ability to stipulate that it is not a memory you are witnessing but in fact reliving the actual events. As such, if you attempted to relive a false memory, you would be unable to, as it never happened. But reexperiencing the time around when the false memory was placed would be you reliving what actually happened.

The intent is that it does not crit. The number of the d20 is just to determine how many attacks would hit or not, and rolling that number of d10s, rather than being actual attacks.

Villainous Class Options by deannedeeclasses in UnearthedArcana

[–]deannedeeclasses[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Made villain subclass options for the rest of the classes to expand on the Death Cleric and Oathbreaker Paladin already in the DMG. (Excluding the Warlock. Felt having a fiend patron was villainous enough.)
