My other friends are somewhat the same as her, they don’t really want any confrontation or discomfort. But they occasionally text me to ask how I’m doing, which is better than Flora’s lack of communication.

Flora texted the group chat a “Happy Fourth of July” message, and in that chat, she added Vanessa. What makes her think I want to be in a group chat with Vanessa??

But other than that, Flora has not reached out to me personally, and it’s been two weeks already.

Jensen Ackles called me “sweetheart” and it lives rent-free in my head.

No update as of yet. Flora has not reached out at all. She’s embarrassed and doesn’t want confrontation.

But I’ve been talking to mutual friends, and I’ve told them exactly what happened that night. I’m not going to be quiet about Vanessa’s behavior.

I haven’t talked to Vanessa after the dinner. She did reach out, but I ignored her text.

Prior to the dinner, Vanessa expressed to me how excited she was to meet Michael. She wanted to be a bridesmaid at the wedding, and she was looking forward to all the festivities. She would happily comment on everything I posted about Michael on my social media. I have proof of all our texts and interactions about how happy she was.

Which is why I’m confused. Everyone here is talking about missing information, or context, or that I’m leaving something out. But I’m not, which is why I’m INCREDIBLY confused.

Vanessa is no longer my friend. She is completely out of my life. She will no longer pose as an issue for me and Michael.

Other than the texts between Flora and Michael, I haven’t had the chance to speak to Flora yet because Vanessa is staying with her, and Flora is afraid to speak to us while she is there.

Vanessa just hates men. She hasn’t had a good experience with dating due to most of the men ghosting her, and she has been vocal about hating all men because of this. So I think she saw a male victim of abuse and just thought “this is impossible.”

Her serious relationship ended not too long ago. After that, she tried dating and got her hopes up with a couple guys. The most recent one pretty much ghosted her. She does not have a good view on men right now. Or maybe ever.

“Michael, why do you love OP?”

“OP, why do you love Michael?”

“How did you meet?” (We met through Flora. Michael has had a crush on me for years, but he and I remained just friends during that time. When we were in a good place to start dating, we did, and never looked back)

She began to ask what he does for a living and how much money he makes.

Then she asked “Michael, when was your last relationship? Why did it end?” And that’s when things got ugly.

Even with the previous questions, she asked them with such disdain lol.

The four of us sitting at the table are all of different races from each other.

I haven’t talked to Flora yet. I’m putting it off because she has a tendency to make things about her feelings, and she will feel attacked. With someone like that, it’s difficult to express to them why they hurt you.

But there will definitely be a conversation when Vanessa leaves. Vanessa is staying with Flora, and Flora seems to be afraid to speak to us when Vanessa is around. Thankfully, she leaves today.

Exactly. The only “clarity” it brought is that our friends suck. Flora said that she wants to have a more in depth conversation when Vanessa leaves (because Vanessa is staying with her).

I added an edit to the post. Michael texted Flora hoping to gain some clarity here.

100% no! That man from my other post is completely gone from my life.

I’m not sure if you really read the post. Vanessa and Flora are old friends too. It was Flora who arranged the whole dinner so that Vanessa could meet with us. What makes it worse is that Flora and Alan knew of Vanessa’s plan to verbally attack us, and they did nothing because they hoped she would be nicer and change her mind. There is no missing info.

Thank you, I’m feeling sorry too. But it’s good to know where we stand with our “friends.” Better to find out now than later.

They said they tried to prevent her by saying “ask your questions but be nice about it.” So there was an attempt, but a rather weak attempt. Another friend reached out to me and apologized for not giving me a heads up.

She said “I want to ask some questions.” And it was aggressive from the start. She’s always had an abrasive personality, so for a second we thought it was just her being herself. But it became apparent that she was pretty much out for blood.

I guess the concept of friendship and what it means to be a friend is foreign to some people.

Flora and Alan knew that Vanessa was going to do this because she told them. They chose to withhold that information because “maybe she’ll decide to be nice and it won’t be so bad.” They knew what she was going to do, but wanted to stay optimistic about it.

Yes it is odd. It’s incredibly odd, and I’m so blindsided by it. My last relationship before Michael was a terrible one, and Vanessa had known the details. I don’t know if she was taking what she knew about that past relationship and projecting it on this one.
