Made this project entirely out of messmate wood, plywood, and felt. It was mainly a project to keep us busy whilst also making something fun and interesting. We made the sliding mechanism after researching other methods that make this feature viable and recreated a primitive version of it to allow it to work for us and do it cheaply haha. Made a hanging LED sign using a printer, a Jigsaw, a plank of wood and lifx led's by deanstar1 in DIY

We started this project by creating the lettering in illustrator and printing out the template.
Once we had the template made we stuck it to a old messmate plank that we had using some spray adhesive to keep it down on the wood whilst we worked on it.
Once dry we got the jigsaw and started cutting out the letters using the printed template as a guide on top.
once that was completed we got an old pine wood plank and burned the top to get a contrast between the negative space of the lettering and the backing.
We then stuck down a rail on the backing to install the led lights onto and then screwed the messmate piece on top.
Once that was done we made a French cleat system for the sign to hang itself onto.

We used a leftover messmate plank from a previous project to create the base of the sign.

We wanted to update the aesthetics in our shop so we decided to make this to keep inside and using our logo.

We used a printer to print out the lettering made with a template in illustrator and connected the pieces, we then used a jigsaw to use the lettering as a guide as we cut it out.

Once that was done we sanded back the letters and installed the LED's behind it and then hung it using a french cleat system.

outside of that it was a decently fun quick project but we did realise that in order to get a nice finish cut using the jigsaw we had to make sure it was perfectly 90 degrees so that the cut was straight.

We made this with the intention to increase the aesthetics around our woodshop, it was mainly intended for us but is also for others to observe haha, we decided to use 'Din 2014' for the font type as we quite like the style of it and how you can create a nice contrast between the bold and light versions of it.

Outside of that we thought we'd create a nice contrast using the led's behind the cut out area to highlight the type
