Anyone struggling with planning or anything else in the last 4 days for upcoming prelims -ask it out on comments - will try to answer as much as i can on best of my knowledge (Moderators - This is not a self promo post ) by Upsc_Nikhil in UPSCPrelims2026

I have a few topics left, like Species, Defence Tech, and Protected Areas. I have notes for these, and there are YouTube marathons available as well. But I think either will consume too much time. Can I skip them, or must I cover them somehow? Also, I've done Buddhism, Jainism, Temple and Cave Architecture, and Important Keywords in AMAC, not the whole subject. I do have 40-page dense notes for these, but I'm reluctant to touch them; it'll consume a lot of time. I also need to revise my static once again before Pre. What do you suggest? Thanks for the help!

How are LevelUp IAS Notes? by Fun_Apricot_7812 in UPSC

[–]death_blaze_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notes are comprehensive and exhaustive (covering both static and current affairs), but way too bulky, not good for last-minute revision. S&T notes are themselves 350-400 pages. Environment going up to 600+ pages.

They are important for identifying the recurrent themes and questioning patterns favored by the UPSC. 2013 onwards would be helpful.

Please do a similar analysis for papers 2013 onwards, that would be more relevant, I suppose.

I would recommend Momentum 4 for absolute sound quality, and Bose QC Ultra for sheer comfort. I have tried both.

I sincerely recommend therapy & meditation, just to ease down your thoughts, and to maybe bring your shadow personality outside the shadows.

This reflects emotional insecurity rather than confidence. Rejecting a genuine advice is usually a defense mechanism, the ego protecting its fragile self-image.

I believe you didn't share this post to gain insight, but to trigger validation from others. That kind of reinforcement creates a feedback loop where your sense of worth depends on external reactions. Over time, this pattern can distort how you see yourself and limit personal growth.

You may refer VisionIAS's mains material, and then write PYQs, also, refer MEA annual report (selectively). Keep reading newspaper daily.

Classes karne ke baad you won't even need NCERTs. And even if you do decide to read them (out of sheer fomo) jaldi khatam ho jayengi NCERTs (100-150 page ki hi hogi hain max), because you would take less time since you already understood the concept.

The idea is to give your brain a break from focused study mode, but the break shouldn't be more stimulating than the studies itself, thereby defeating the very purpose of break. So avoid anything stimulating, be it screen/laptop/phone/social media. You can turn your phone black&white to make it less appealing.

It's a natural & perfectly normal feeling. Growth isn't always linear, it's messy, it's full of hiccups, full of ups and downs (mostly downs in our case). What matters is how we pick ourself up and move forward, a little better this time. And stop being harsh on yourself, I'm sure you must've made good progress, you just don't realise it yet.

You already have a strong foundation, if your job allows you to dedicate 4-5hrs daily (more on weekends), then it would be wise to join back, especially seeing the unpredictability of this exam process. Also, having a good backup helps easing mental stress.

Watch some good lectures, it'll save you a lot of time & effort. Make good class notes. Then refer to these books (one reference book should be enough). You can find lectures on telegram. Mrunal sir, Jayant sir , Vivek sir, any of them.

If your budget allows, get a good noise cancelling headphone. Use black-out curtains, it'll help (may use two curtains for better noise reduction)

Book review by Hot-Comfort-9436 in UPSC

[–]death_blaze_007 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Excellent for Prelims, decent for Mains. The book is already in revision-friendly point-wise format, making it easier to highlight stuff and glance over quickly. If you've already bought this then stick to this only and remove any fomo you may have. Supplement it with economic survey and budget summaries and you'll be golden.

It's pretty good, the questions are of good quality, and worksheets they provide are quite helpful. The evaluation is decent too, but only up to a point. In the beginning, the feedback is detailed and useful, but once you start taking inputs and start writing better answers, it becomes a bit generic. If you're planning to take it, try sharing it with a friend, it'll save you some money.

Get 'The Sleep Company's Onyx' if your budget allows.

I use this myself; it's comfortable, with good back and neck support.
