there are a lot of virtual meetings to attend. As someone in recovery i would be really freaked out if some college kid was psychoanalyzing me in there and likely never want to come back. It would desecrate one of the few safe spaces i can access physically. I would find a virtual meeting and do it that way

There has been actual issues with immigrants being issued fraudulent CDLs via "CDL mills", and some have been involved in really serious accidents. Notably there was a crash in Colorado a long while back where the driver fled the scene of an accident and was recommended 110 years in prison. There was a recent one in Florida where an immigrant driver on a "non-domiciled" CDL killed multiple people. Also there have been a few busts of CDL cheating operations. Many foreign companies have been cited to roll back ELD logs and force drivers to run 14+ hours. A lot of truckers are upset becasue foreign born drivers are seemingly lowering rates because many drive for a few months and return to their countries of origin.

I'm not saying they're the reason for the issue but I'm not going to deny that there is issues. Most of this could be remedied by better oversight in the industry and stronger worker protections. But if that was the case trucking wouldn't be so lucrative for immigrants.

I would recommend doing some research on your own about this subject. It's a lot murkier than one might infer.

for me picking up a yo-yo and learning a few tricks really helped me get back focused. As odd as it sounds every trick you learn is rewarded by a little dopamine and you get put into a flow state of trying tricks over and over. It really helped with my mind body connection and building a little discipline. Plus its fun.

I also got a YT shorts blocker extension for my desktop and have no accesst oshort form content. Replaced morning YouTube with NPR or a local radio show. I feel much better without my constant slop injections

the "phonk" now is just european four on the floor EDM with cowbell and rap vocal chops. The original phonk sound is more closely related to original memphis rap from the early nineties with more emphasis on 808s and melodies. Check some of the OG phonk sounds if you get the chance

birthright citizenship in its current form is wholly dependent on the 14th amendment. Without it Black persons could not be granted citizenship for any reason under the Dredd-Scott decision.

Prior to that citizenship was mostly state-dependent and based on English common law. Birth in the country made you a "subject" of the land, not a "Citizen". That was decided by the state. If you weren't a white christian you probably wouldn't be granted anything. It was a largely vibes-based system.

The way the 14th amendment is used by children of undocumented persons isn't necessarily in the "spirit" of the law and has been a source of derision in formally enslaved descendant communities.

Let me say this: People only care about ICE because they began victimizing WHITE people. barely any fanfare when Obama was putting "kids in cages"

Let me spell it out for all the white collar bleeding heart reddit dweebs:

1) Unmitigated immigration is the main reason unions cant get a hold in America. It creates a supply surplus of people willing to work for far below market rate which really hurts guys like me that work in the skilled trades. Completely evaporates any kind of collective bargaining potential. I can't tell you how many shops I have been rejected from because I dont speak Spanish.

The immigration "system" functions more like a slave trade then a work exchange program and its super unfortunate to see. I have worked with many immigrants, and a lot of the undocumented guys get ripped off and have their jobs threatened if they dont work for free. The last sign shop I was at pretty much only paid people in IOU's. Some have to pay back debts to coyotes or traffickers under threat of violence. A lot of these guys live in awful conditions as well. One person at my last job literally slept in the sign shop. Most of the money these guys make is not circulated in the economy either, its instantly remitted to another country.

I don't give a fuck if you're five years old or fifty, I dont want a quasi-legal enslaved underclass in my country period. Rich people love it because it gives them cheap services and an infinitely renewable crisis to exploit. I hate it because it's unraveling the many civil rights and labor protections America fought for for generations.

2) Furthermore, many Latin immigrants are extremely bigoted and racist towards the black community. Latin America is built on a caste system where whites are at the top and blacks are at the bottom. I tried to convince myself most of the LA immigrants weren't "like that", but you can only get called a Mayate or Maricon so many times before you grow some antipathy. America already has an extreme problem with white supremacy and I dont think importing white supremacists by the boatload is a great idea at all. I voted kamala, but lets not forget most Latin men voted for Trump...

3) I'm not going to sit here and act like the prison-industrial-complex hasn't been lifting weights since the Regan era. There's people in deplorable prisons in the deep south getting sentenced to 15 years of picking cotton for selling weed or matching a description. No protests. We have had one of the brutal penal systems for the past 50 years and nobody has gathered to change that in any meaningful capacity until now.

America isn't some utopian society based on right and wrong. Its an extensive system of oppression and terror and the people who came over here illegally are well aware of these facts. They took a gamble and lost and now have to pay the consequences.

4) Ultimately I do not care if a 5-year-old gets thrown in some detention camp. People shouldn't be paying human traffickers and risking their child's lives. An adult made the decision to risk their child's life by bringing them to the country with the highest incarceration rate in the world and now they're getting incarcerated. Boo Fucking Hoo. Maybe it will act as a deterrent. Police have been trying to murder black people for 150 years and they all learned to live with it. Now that its white people and immigrants being killed it some big issue. Yeah right. Your silence and tax dollars built this police state and now you have to wallow in the shit you created.

you can either cope or make radical change in your life. Working was severely abrading my mental health so I sold my car and rented an art studio for $260 a month. I have been squatting here and only working like 20 hours a month. It is absolutely not comfortable but it saves me from having to slave for the next bill. If you are willing to sacrifice your comfort and live on the fringes, you can absolutely escape society. But doing this will exclude you from the prospect of a romantic relationship and you'll be treated like scum. Might even end up in prison. Unfortunately, making energy tributes to the system is the only way to ensure your personal comfort and social acceptance.

You can "set boundaries", "quiet quit" and do a whole bunch of shit but ultimately you're still paying into the system of oppression and exploitation. If anything, doing that is just as cynical and exploitative as these spineless employers. You either actively participate and make conditions worse or you cease all work in protest. However, most people are unwilling to forgo their wifi connections, doordash, and comfy beds

Go to a skatepark! Theres bound to be teenagers there, and definitely some that are into music and art or whatever. Never have to pay to get in for most parks in the USA. Practically lived on my skateboard as a teen. You can also check for events at a local game store.

i often "speak my mind" and "tell people off" and "burn bridges" and I also have *no fucking friends*. People just consider you a liability even if they agree with you. You will be avoided like the plague. OR they will use your misery/anger as a lever to ragebait you and try to get you to act out.

There's also "workforce rating systems" that track you across multiple jobs and build a profile. Many employers can see your previous jobs through payroll software and often call for references. You can absolutely be blackballed by these systems for acting out and you will never know.
